2018 Paralympic Winter Games Kick Off In Style
Over 570 Athletes from 49 countries has converged at PyeongChang Olympic Stadium in South Korea to jostle for the medals at the ongoing 12th, PyeongChang Paralympic Winter games.
The 2018 PyeongChang Paralympic Winter Games began on Friday March 9th with a spectacular opening ceremony which took place at the PyeongChang Olympic Stadium in South Korea.
The 12th Winter Paralympic Games is the first Paralympic games to be hosted by South Korea since Seoul 1988.
Opening ceremony which was attended by the South Korean President Moon Jae-in, the president of International Paralympic Committee Andrew Parsons and PyeongChang 2018 organizing Committee CEO and President Lee Hee-beom praised the courage and dedication of the athletes. Tickets for the Opening Ceremony were all sold out.
The 10-day event will be closed on March 18, 2018 at the PyeongChang Olympic Stadium in Korea.
A record participation of 570 athletes from 49 countries, making it the largest Winter Paralympics in terms of participation.
However, the Largest Winter Paralympics delegation from South Korea, 36 athletes and 47 official asKorean Celebrities are in the forefront of creating awareness for the Games.
2018 Para Sports have 4 Venues for 6 sports across 15 disciplines, as 80 Gold Medals (78 medals in 4 Snow sports and 2 in Ice sports will be won at the end of this year event.
Meanwhile, Korea’s first medal is Bronze by Shin Eui-hyun in cross country skiing.
