Chris Giwa Resumes Office As NFF President
…Vows to return Nigeria football to winning way
After almost four years of denial, 2014 elected President of Nigeria Football Federation NFF Ambassador Chris Giwa has finally resumed office as authentic president of the federation.
Just on Monday morning, the Federal Government has directed the NFF to comply with the judgment of the Supreme Court delivered on April 27, 2018, which restored the orders of the Federal High Court, setting aside the purported election into the Executive Committee of the NFF held on September 30, 2014.
Based on this, the Bar. Chris Giwa has all it takes to resume the office on the verdict of Supreme Court.
The board who stormed NFF by 10:00am went straight to the board room, before coming out to inspect each of the offices and staff of the NFF on duty. Giwa led board had about 20 minutes meeting among themselves before they call in the staff for a brief meeting.
He was warmly received by all staff, and they promised to give him all the support he needs to succeed.
Speaking at world conference in Abuja yesterday, Ambassador Giwa promised to turn the fortune of Nigeria football.
According to him, I give all Glory to Almighty God for the gift of life.
“August 26th 2014 election held at Chida Hotel in Abuja and by virtue of mandate we got where we were elected to serve for four years.
The aggrieved members went to Warri Delta state to conduct another election.
“But to the glory of God April 27th 2018 a judgement was delivered in our favour and we got the restoration order in 5th of June 2018
“We are here as a new executive committee of NFF. We are going to give Nigerian good result because Nigerian don’t want to hear the story but result.
“Not only that we are going to embark on reconciliation to all stakeholders, because it’s interest that brought all of us together.
“We should have resume office since but we don’t want any challenge for our darling team super eagles who represented Nigeria at world cup to travel for the world cup before taking over the glass house.”
Speaking on the issue of FIFA hammer failing on Nigeria, Giwa urged Nigerian not to entertain fear, adding that, Nigeria is a sovereign nation, NFF is the registered entity in Nigeria and issue is to be determined by the Nigeria law.
He equally assured that the new board assumption will not affect the Nigeria premier League.
In attendance were, Chris Giwa, Senator Obinna Ogba, Otunba Sunday Ajayi, Effiong Johnson, Dr. Shehu Adamu, Yahaya Adama and Sani Fema
However, the next board meeting will be Thursday.
