Battle Of Gold Coast: My Target Is Nothing But Win Gold- Queen Obisesan

The Nigerians National record holder in the hammer-throw event, Queen Obisesan has assured of the gold medal of the Women’s Hammer event at the forthcoming 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Cost, Australia.

Obisesan who spoke to Aljazirah Nigeria Sports in Abuja at the sidelines of the Nigerian Athletics Golden League organized by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) she expressed that, she has prepared adequately for the championship and good enough for the gold medal.

She said the camping in Nigeria has been eventful as she had the opportunity of blending with other athletes that will equally represent the country at the championship.

According to her, I will say that I have adequately prepared for this championship, the atmosphere in camp has been very nice, I enjoyed my stay and ready to go.

“When you talk about the Commonwealth games, every athlete going there always go with one thing in mind; that is the gold medal. But then you have to look at the records including the national record, the Commonwealth games record as well as the Olympic record. So, I am going to the Commonwealth games and I am going for the record.”

Obisesan also advised other members of the Nigerian contingent to be focused and to use whatever situation they may encounter as a motivator to achieve their goal.

However, Nigeria had earlier released more than 90 athletes in 10 sport federation that would represent the most populous nation in the continent of Africa when the competition commence proper in less than 14 days.

Others Sport includes; Athletic, Wrestling, Shooting, boxing, Tables Tennis, Gymnastic, Para-table Tennis,Para-athletic and Para-power lighting.
