GOD’S EXPECTATIONS FOR DIVINE BLESSINGS IN 2018 BY PASTOR L. O. OLADELE

PART 1:  THE BASIC DIVINE REQUIREMENTS WITH ATTENDANT PROMISE

TEXT: 2 CHRONICLES 7:14  “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land”

I warmly welcome you to this new year of your glory in Jesus Name. Year 2018 is, no doubt, a special year. It is a unique year expectedly full of challenges as revealed by God to us in the Glorious Vision of The Apostolic Church. God revealed that, the year is full of consuming wilderness experience; yet it’s a year of favour for the true believers and saints.

The way of escape, mapped out by God for His own, is that only those who meet the divine expectations would eat the good of the land in the year. This, the Lord loudly charged, should be echoed passionately to the hearing of the believers who have ears to attend to what the spirit tells the church. This is what has informed these messages.

GOD’S EXPECTATIONS FOR DIVINE BLESSINGS IN YEAR 2018 is in seven series covering the first Seven Sundays of the year.

Part one deals with ‘The Basic Divine Requirement with attendant promise’ highlighted in 2 Chronicles 7:14 for our blessings. These are the primary demands required from every believer, the very first beginning of relationship with God; , the characteristics to imbibe in order to be acceptable, and to worship in the sanctuary of God to receive God’s multi-various blessings and then be heaven-bound.
God’s demands for Israelites, His chosen race, is to be His people indeed, humble themselves, pray and seek His face and turn from their wicked ways.

All these demands indicate that their confidence in the physical edifice alone is not sufficient condition for their blessings in the newly dedicated Solomon’s temple.
He (God) categorically gave His Words of promise as the Almighty and faithful God to back up their adherence and obedience to His commandments by fulfilling their expectations of hearing their cry from heaven, forgiving their sins and healing their land.

What a loving God! His principles, requirements and promises remain valid then, today and forever Heb 12:2. If our generation heed this today, the blessings are sure over us.

GOD’S PRIMARY EXPECTATIONS FROM BELIEVERS

“If my people which are called by my name” – Genuine Salvation It is certain according to the word of Christ in Matthew 7:21, Rom. 2:13, that it is not all those who come to the church that are people of God indeed, but rather the doers of the word of God. The doers are those who truly accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour; those who had genuine encounter with Christ leading to exchange of their old adamic nature to the nature of Christ.

Those who are no longer dominated by sins. They are ready to follow the Master, Jesus, in obeying every injunction of God at all cost. They are no longer workers of iniquity, but regenerated being; born of water and the Spirit.

If you are not convinced in your heart of being among the people of God no matter how long you have been in the church, you must strive to have an encounter with Christ by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, renounce your old ways of life under the control of Satan, sin and the world; and make a U-turn to Christ.

It is then, you can meet God’s expectations and thus be qualified for His earthly and heavenly blessings.

“Humble Themselves” – Humility
The ‘humility’ here demands a contrite and meek hearted qualities expected of a true child of God (Isaiah 57:15). Those who humble themselves and tremble at God’s Word, presence and His injunctions.
The end time dangers of twisting the word, self-conceitedness and flagrant disobedience to God’s word are clear evidence of arrogant heart demonstrated by carnal Christians.

This year, God wants those who will realize their true frailty in exchangefor God’s strength Psalms 51:5 – 17. Those who will not see themselves above others but fear God and respect their fellow brethren Luke 18:10 – 14. Those who are ready to apply the word God, and accept God’s scolding and chastisement for their own salvation. Those who can obey God like little children. If you are prepared to shun all the carnal works of flesh and put on the spirituality of Christ, what a wonderful blessing awaits you this year and beyond. (1 Peter 5:6).

“Pray and Seek my face” – Prayer

The Lord is emphasizing that this year is a year of making reverent petition to God. It is only those who can make prayer their ‘Meat and Water’ that can survive the year. In Matthew 26:41, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Ephesians 6:18, among other quotations, the imperative of praying continually was reiterated.

The prayer God would answer is that which comes by lifting up holy hands with righteous heart. If you are prepared to live holy life this year,  not asking amiss but ready to ask with faith through the name of the Lord Jesus Christ then your personal quiet time, family altar, congregational prayers, this year, must be on fire.

It is a year of prayer. It is a year that those sleeping should awake; it is a year to sacrificially and heartily seek the face of God more than before. Psalm 27:8. If we seek God with all our heart and soul, He will surely save us in all the tribulations of the year and testimonies shall abound Deut. 4:29. Let our souls be thirsty of being in His presence, make His house your spiritual abode whenever duty demands in true worship, you must shun excuses ,then you shall experience His wonderful deliverance, loving kindness and provision in the year Psalm 63:1.

    ‘Turn from their wicked ways’
Our Christian calling demands that we shun all wickedness. It should not be in our nature at all if we have truly met with Christ and want to reign with Him.

Why should wicked ones be found among God’s people? In Isaiah 52:11, God commanded us to come out of them. The wicked is reserved for destruction and day of wrath of God (Job 22:29). God is angry with the wicked every day Psalm 7:11 and horrible judgment awaits the wicked Psalm 37:12 – 15.

Before the tares would be separated from the wheat, think about your life and ask if the fruit of the Holy Spirit have a place in your heart. Reconcile with all, love all and strive to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace – Ephesians 4:3 The land of this year demands all these for our blessing.

WHAT GOD WILL DO— THE ATTENDANT PROMISES

If we are determined to meet God’s divine expectations contained in this text, God assures us that He will answer our prayers, forgive our sins and heal our land.

These are all that we need this year to reach our Canaan land. God does not want us to perish in the wilderness of the year; rather He wants this year to be a unique year of lofty spiritual and physical attainments. Let us ask for the help and assistance of Holy Spirit while we submit ourselves to ask for, seek and possess the requirement for divine blessings.

His promises are sure – Josh 21:45. His words are Yea and amen. He will do what He says He would do if we can keep our own terms of the covenant. You have been told  son of man what God is asking from you.

The choice is yours. Choose obedience, choose life and keep enjoying in the year and beyond, standing firm on the promises of God. (RH 261).
