Nwosu wins 3rd GOLD medal for Nigeria at 2018 Commonwealth Games
The GOLD rush continued for Nigeria in the Para Powerlifting event on Tuesday as Rio 2016 GOLD medallist, Ndidi Nwosu, dominated the women’s Heavyweight category at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
Nwosu with a weight class of 69.10kg, proved too strong for her opponents after garnering 110.4 points, having recorded clean lifts of 110kg and 120kg respectively. She failed at her attempt at 125kg but still claimed GOLD as England’s Louise Sugden recorded a best lift of 103kg to take Silver.
Nwosu’s medal is the third GOLD medal for Nigeria at the Games, joining compatriots Roland Ezuruike and Esther Oyema, who won titles in their respective events. Her medal is the country’s seventh at the ongoing Games
