NYSC enhances operation efficiency, service delivery of staff
The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Sulaiman Z. Kazaure has demonstrated commitment to the enhancement of operational efficiency and service delivery in the scheme through the training and retraining of all cadres of members of staff.
This was revealed during the National Youth Service Corps 2017 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) desk officers’ training workshop held yesterday in Abuja with the theme: Towards Enhancing the FOIA Administration,.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Kazaure said, “This programme is aimed at broadening the knowledge of the Desk Officers, who are saddled with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) implementation at the National Directorate Headquarters and the State Secretariats. I therefore, commend the Press and Public Relations Unit, the coordinating FOIA implementation activities, for ensuring the sustenance of this programme”.
Kazaure reiterated his earlier call on all staff of the scheme to continue to imbibe the virtues of honesty, hard work and commitment to duty. With the right conferred on Nigerians to seek information from public organizations under the FOI Act, he said, “ we should be mindful that the law has thrust the Scheme in the eye of public scrutiny, therefore, directors, heads of units and state coordinators must step up their supervisory role to ensure that all official conduct is in conformity with extant rules and regulations. We must ensure rules and regulations. We must ensure proper records-keeping, probity and accountability in the management of resources, adherence to established procedures in the conduct of our operations as well as enhanced delivery of services to our stakeholders”.
In the same vein, the acting director, press and Public Relations, Adeyemi Adenike stated that, since the FOIA Act came into being, the NYSC FOIA desk has ensured that the scheme remains among the best complying MDAs, by providing appropriate training for officials of the scheme on the public’s right to access information or records held in National Youth Service Corps.
Adenike applauded the director general NYSC for his resolute commitment to human capital development and to all members of NYSC management for their love towards learning and growth.
