Our Goals Is To Raise Talents-FCT Golf Association

The Federal Capital Territory FCT, Golf Association, has vowed not to relent on its until it achieves the desire of raising talents that will make Nation’s Capital City of Nigeria proud in the game of golf.

Chairman FCT Golf Association, Engr. Oladapo Mohammed, made this known in a press conference at the IBB International Golf and country club weekend in Abuja to herald the first edition of FCT Presidential golf tournament.

The championship that Tee-off on the 2nd of February is a tournament meant to introduce many residents to the game as well as the unrelenting effort from the association to grow and develop the game in the FCT and beyond.

According to him, our key objective is to raise talents and to promote the game of golf in FCT and its environs.

“Golfers are expected from all over the country to participate and this will be annual among other events to be organized by this Association.

“Mandate we have as the association is to promote the game of golf at grassroots especially among the school children. To encourage the game of golf among the FCT residents.

“We equally aim to use the game of golf to develop tourism social economic development of the capital city. And to us the game of golf for positive societal unity and harmony.”

He offered gratitude to the minister of FCT who has graciously provided a piece of land for the Golf Association to develop the public golf field and allow a member of the public to learn and play this noble game. “Our profound gratitude to Malam Mohammed Bello, the FCT Minister for the historical kind gesture.”

He equally urged the residents to come out in mass and be part of it the event.

While giving the hint on the championship, the competition Chairman Mallam Sulieman explained that: “Over 220 golfers are coming from all over the country and the format the competition is going to be stroke play format, with a short gun,  where everyone will start with different hole and as well finish at the same time.”

Speaking on the prizes, the Secretary said it’s an amateur tournament and no money is attached but I can assure you several trophies and other gifts will be won by the participants.
