U-23 AFCON Qualifier: Azubuike Ready for Libya Happy To Be In Team
Nigeria’s U-23 national team midfielder Azubuike Okechukwu has revealed that he is physically fit and in explosive form for his team’s U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against Libya slated for Tunisia on Wednesday.
The former Captain of the U-23 national team also expressed appreciation to the team’s Chief Coach Imama Amapakabo for extending invitation to him. He was happy to be among the best players included in the team that would square up against Libya in Tunisia.
He also assured football lovers in Nigeria to have believe in the team despite the fact that the invited Europe based players would have just two days to train together with the rest of the players before the match is played.
“Firstly my appreciation goes to Coach Imama Amapakabo for extending invitation to me in the first place. I am happy to be among the privilege few to get this call up. I have vowed to make the maximum use of the opportunity it provides.
“Nigerians should expect the best from us as a team and the best is to win the game so as to be sure of a better performance in the return leg at home in Nigeria.
“Concerning few days that we have to train before playing the match I don’t think that will affect our performance negatively. We are Nigerians and professionals, we can cope with the limited time that we have together”, the Rizespor star disclosed
Azubuike who got 7.1 points rating which made him the third best players for his side in the match was happy with his club’s performance away to Konyaspor on Saturday where Rizespor spanked the home team 2-0
