18 year- old Nigerian goalkeeper to start for his European club two months after coming from Nigeria

18 year – old Nigerian goalkeeper, James Samuel Friday has been listed to start for his European club SJK Seinäjoki in Finland against Siirus of Sweden in an international club friendly game.

Friday, who joined SJK Seinajoki less than two months ago has shown tremendous improvement in training sessions with the senior team and it is therefore not a surprise that he has been given the opportunity to start a game.

With this, Friday has achieved significant milestone in his career as the first home- grown African goalkeeper to make the starting 11 of a European club at 18 years old.

Interestingly, he achieved this feat less than two months after joining the team from Mavlon FC of Lagos, Nigeria.

TOTORI NEWS further gathered that SJK Seinäjoki will participate in 2025/26 season of Europa Conference League, where there will be have away games to play internationally, it is therefore neccessary to expose the young Nigerian goalkeeper to the challenges that lies ahead in the competition.

Chairman House Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu Congratulates NFF, Super Eagles On Victory Over Rwanda

Chairman House Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu has congratulated the Super Eagles and Ibrahim Gusau led Nigeria Football Federation on the deserved victory which reignited Nigeria hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Honourable Kabiru who represents Gusau/Tsafe Federal constituency in the House of Representatives however urged the players not to be carried away with the victory and should be focused on the remaining games particularly the matchday 6 against Zimbabwe in Uyo.

Mai Palace as he is fondly called said, “I want to congratulate the NFF and the Super Eagles for the victory the Nigeria national team picked in Kigali today. When they came for budget defense at the national assembly, the NFF promised to do everything possible in making that Nigeria don’t miss world cup back to back.
Today, with the 2-0 victory, it’s becoming a reality. However, it is not over yet. The eyes of the players and the officials must be on the ball always until remaining matches are won.” He concluded.

With the victory, the 2013 African champions have six points from five games while South Africa topped the Group C table with 10 points after beating Lesotho 2-0 earlier today. Following a 2-2 draw with Zimbabwe, Benin Republic are second with 8 points while Rwanda are third with seven points from five games.
