The President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee NOC, Engr. Habu Gumel is engaging name- dropping tactics to cow the 38 eligible delegates in Thursday’s NOC election in Jallingo,Taraba.

This tactics according to one of the Federation President, is being executed by a certain Federation president who is a retired staff of the Youth and Sports Development Ministry.

The Federation President who spoke under the condition of anonymity said; “Engr Gumel’s last option is to use a former staff of the ministry, who is now a President in one of the Federations to reach out and tell delegates that Engr. Gumel is the Sports Minister’s candidate.

We had several meetings in Asaba after one of the top sports administrator in Delta state took some of us on a binge, as this plan was the last option on the table.”

When asked if the Sports MinisterMr. Sunday Dare has endorsed Engr. Gumel, the source said,”the Sports Minister has been neutral and apolitical, as the efforts made by Engr. Gumel to meet the minister on this election has been abortive. The top Delta State Sports Administrator is the one sponsoring the return of Engr. Gumel, and he has mandated the retired Sports Ministry staff to “deliver Engr. Gumel at all cost.”

From our investigation, Majority of the Federation Presidents have frowned at this new development and vowed to resist every attempt to force Engr. Gumel on them.

President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has called on Nigerian families to adopt healthy living habits through regular participation in sporting and fitness activities.

Nimrod made the call on Sunday during the third edition of the Hoba Development Association, Abuja Chapter, novelty sports event held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

He noted that physical activities such as sports are vital to fostering family bonds, community interaction, and overall well-being.

“The rate of health-related incidents such as slumping is increasing, but regular exercise helps improve the health of both parents and children,” he said. “Events like this bring families together, allowing parents and children to interact and know each other better.”

Also speaking, the stand-in Chairman of the Hoba Community, Barrister Nathan Naandeti, highlighted the significance of the annual novelty games, describing them as a unifying platform for members of the community.

“It’s something we do every year to promote unity, togetherness, and fitness among our people. Sports is part of who we are,” he stated.

Men, women, and children from the Hoba community participated in various sporting activities, including volleyball, badminton, football, and aerobics—all aimed at encouraging relaxation, fitness, and bonding among families.
