2027: NYCN Declares Nationwide Youth Support for Tinubu, Mobilizes Across 36 States, Diaspora
Cyril Ogar
The National Youth Council of Nigeria has officially declared nationwide support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, pledging to mobilize millions of young Nigerians across the 36 states of the federation, the 774 local government areas, and the diaspora to ensure his re-election.
NYCN President, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, revealed this while addressing journalists in Abuja over the weekend, noting that the Council’s resolution came after wide-ranging consultations.
He stated that the move was a unified decision by youth leaders aimed at building on the achievements of President Tinubu’s first term and ensuring a brighter and more prosperous future for Nigerian youths.
Sukubo stated, “Thereafter, we wish to make it abundantly clear to the entire nation and the global community that under my leadership, the National Youth Council of Nigeria has reached a firm resolution on key national issues. These resolutions, which have emerged after extensive consultations over the past two weeks, reflect the collective voice and aspirations of Nigerian youths across all 36 states and the 774 local government areas.
“Today’s press conference is convened to address issues that directly affect the Nigerian youth, the heartbeat and future of this great nation. It is also aimed at setting the ball rolling for the continued progress, unity, and prosperity of our dear country.
“Having been duly elected alongside members of the National Executive Council of the NYCN, we stand as the legitimate representatives of the entire youth population of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“After due consideration and careful evaluation of national developments under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian youth have decided to declare their unflinching support for the President to seek a second term in office come 2027.”
Therefore, today, on behalf of over 60 million Nigerian youths, we formally call on His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to declare his intention to contest for the office of President in the 2027 general elections.
Sukubo further stated that Nigerian youths are fully committed to supporting President Tinubu’s re-election ambition and will take the initiative to obtain the party’s presidential nomination form on his behalf.
The NYCN President continued, “This declaration cuts across all 36 states of the federation, the 774 local government areas, and our youth communities in the diaspora. We call on all state chapters, local government coordinators, and affiliate youth organizations under the NYCN to cascade this resolution to the grassroots and mobilize full support nationwide.
“We want to assure Mr. President that he can count on the commitment of Nigerian youths to deliver overwhelming support in 2027. We are confident of mobilizing not less than 40 to 60 million youth votes to guarantee victory for the President.
“It is important to emphasize that the National Youth Council of Nigeria is not a partisan organization. However, our decision stems from our collective desire to secure the future of Nigerian youths and to consolidate on the gains recorded under President Tinubu’s administration, especially in the areas of youth empowerment, education, agriculture, entrepreneurship, digital innovation, and social investment.
“We recognize the President’s unwavering commitment to the growth and inclusion of young people in national development, and we believe that a second term will further strengthen and expand these opportunities for our generation.
On this note, we call on every Nigerian youth, home and abroad, to rise in unity, hope, and determination to ensure continuity and progress in 2027.”

Corps Members have been advised to be patriotic towards National building and also use the opportunities of NYSC service year to positively invest in their future.
The immediate past Director of Information and Public Relations of NYSC, Chief Eddy Megwa, stated this during his motivational lecture to Corps Members at the Bauchi State Orientation Camp, Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the State.
Addressing the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps Members, Chief Megwa urged them to serve the nation with loyalty and strong sense of commitment, adding that, no nation grows without the selfless services of her citizens, he therefore urged them to rise up and make the desired change.
The Retired Director, urged the Corps Members to deliberately work towards building a great nation that would compete among the comity of nations, because, “if things are working very well, the youths will not be desperate about relocating to other countries of the world for greener pastures”.
He discouraged the youths from irregular migration, describing it as a suicide mission, because of many risks associated with it, including avoidable deaths, jail terms among others, but equally advised them to follow the official travelling protocol if the need for foreign trip arises.
He also encouraged the Corps Members to strive for excellence in whatever they do, adding that they should leverage on the achievements of their predecessors.
“Do not put your names and your families’ names into disrepute by getting involved in crimes and other unwholesome activities. NYSC is not a safe haven for criminals”, he said.
The former image maker of NYSC described the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme of the NYSC as the panacea to graduate unemployment. He therefore advised the Corps Members to take advantage of the SAED programme by learning skills that would be useful and enable them become entrepreneurs.
He emphasized that the days of white collar jobs are over as the reality of today is self employment which is made possible by embracing Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship training.
The Public Relations guru advised the Corps Members Members to be security conscious as vigilance and self consciousness of their environment are key to personal safety.
Earlier, the NYSC Bauchi State Coordinator, Mr Kufre Umoren appreciated the retired Director for the visit and his words of motivation to both camp officials and Corps Members.
The Coordinator described Chief Megwa as a living legend that shaped the NYSC Public Relations Unit to what it is today and left his footprints boldly.
