The Chairman Caretaker Committee of Nigeria basketball Federation NBBF, Engr. Musa Kida has blasted the opposition to stop dragging his name into the mud but they should rather come with the badge of what they wanted to offer.

Kida in reaction on Thursday in Abuja to the statement made Nigeria Basketball Vanguard accusing him of fraud, lack of transparency and busy calling him names.

He appealed to the set of opposition to leave him to bury his cross and carry their own cross saying the game is fair play.

According to him, elections are normally very interesting periods when I was campaigning 4 years ago, I was campaigning telling people what I wanted to do, I was campaigning based on the records I have myself, the achievement of what I thought I did to merit their confidence.

But this day, everybody who wants to contest as President of the Basketball Federation thinks they can get the badge of honour by just attacking me as president and nothing else.

“I think people should open their eyes better, let people stand the scrutiny of what they have done in the past, and if they have not done anything in the past, the game is fair game, they should be frank enough to say look I have not done anything like this but this what I wanted to do and appeal to the conscience of our stakeholders instead of coming drag my name in the mud because that what can be spectacular about how they can present themselves

“Let them leave me, let me burry my own cross, let them carry theirs, let them tells us what achievement they have and tell us what they won’t do in the next four year

Again, for me I am passionate about basketball, I have always done basketball even when I was not President and I don’t believe is only in being president that I will do what I need to do for basketball.

“Let them come with their history bag showing what they have and tell stakeholders what they want to do and strictly base on that, I want to encourage stakeholders to be incisive and insightful about analysis of what they want to offer, apart from blaming Musa Kida of doing this or not doing that let them say what they want to do.” He advised the opposition

As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence anniversary on Wednesday October 1, Basketball Promoter and Initiator of Mark D’ Ball Basketball Championship, Mr. Igoche Mark, has commended the country’s athletes for their outstanding contributions.

In a heartfelt message, Mr. Mark praised active and retired athletes for consistently putting Nigeria on the global map through their dedication, hard work, and achievements. “Your dedication, hard work, and achievements have not only brought us pride but have also inspired a generation of Nigerians,” he stated.

The Sports Administrator urged the National Sports Commission to establish a platform to celebrate these athletes and recognize their invaluable contributions to Nigerian sports. He emphasized the need to honour their legacy and provide a framework for their continued involvement in sports after retirement.

To support athletes in transition, Mr. Mark recommended that “retirement plans be implemented to ensure a seamless transition into life after sports. This would enable athletes to plan for their future and maximize their post-athletic careers.”

Furthermore, he proposed a welfare package for retired athletes, including access to healthcare, education, and economic empowerment programs. “By doing so, we can show our appreciation for their service and ensure that they are taken care of,” Mr. Mark added.

As Nigeria celebrates its 65th Independence anniversary on October 1, with the theme “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation,” Mr. Mark’s sentiments echo the sentiments of many Nigerians who believe in the importance of recognizing and supporting the country’s athletes.
