$9.6bn UK Judgment: CSOs Suspend Protest, Give 21 Days Ultimatum

The Coalition of Civil Society Group, (COSG) has suspended the two days peaceful protest, giving the Process and Industrial Development Limited (P&ID) a 21days ultimatum to negotiate on $9.6billion UK Judgment with the Nigerian Government to review the Judgment.

The protest which was tagged: Operation Occupy British and Irish Government started yesterday when the demonstrators in their thousands marched to the British High Commission and Ireland Embassy in Abuja with placards.

The Convener and the President of COSG, Etuk Bassey while addressing pressmen said that the protest will be suspended in order for the Irish government to call the company to order to set aside the Judgment.

He threatened that after the 21 days Ultimatum and the judgment has not been a review, Nigerians will come out to the street to express their the displeasure on the judgment until it is been review.

His Words, ‘’ Nigerians are good people, we will work for Nigerian, Nobody can take Nigeria for granted. We are not going to get tired because this is a patriotic duty.

‘’And our request is very simple, we have come here to tell the Irish government. We want to reiterate here and now, we will suspend our occupation but why we are suspension the occupation, we are announcing 2 days ultimatum.

‘’The 21days is to tell the Irish government to order to negotiate with the Nigerian government because we didn’t support the judgment and that is the collective decision of 200million Nigerians. We are not afraid to tell the world our position, No to the fraudulent Judgment. We are appealing to the company and let them resolve the matter between 21days. We will remain here and we shall never be intimidated.

The benefits of hosting the Games extend far beyond the sports arena. Nigeria stands to gain both empirical and non-empirical advantages, with direct, indirect, and induced impacts that will touch every corner of society. Infrastructural development will take center stage, with new facilities such as indoor sports halls, conference centers, and improved road networks reshaping urban landscapes while strengthening the nation’s capacity to host future international events.

Economic growth is another significant dividend. Over 10,000 jobs are expected to be created, spanning construction, facility management, event planning, and tourism services.

The hospitality industry will undergo major improvements as hotels and resorts are upgraded to meet international standards, while local restaurants, lounges, and tourist attractions will see a surge in patronage from international visitors.
