Ladies Golf: Nigeria Can Conquer Africa If…. Ekwueme
….We Will be more focus- New President

The immediate Past President, of Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria LGAN Ekanem Ekwueme, has revealed that Nigeria can only conquer Africa in the game of Africa if the country focuses more on the development of junior ladies golf as well as grassroots development.
She stated this at the closing ceremony of 2019 Nigeria Ladies Open 3-day tournament held inside IBB International Country Golf Course in Abuja.
The former president expressed that the best way to challenge other Africa countries is to focus more on the junior ladies’ golf as well as grassroots development.
According to her, Two years ago, when I came on board, I promised to take the game of golf to the next level as you can see today, we had a Junior ladies golf event that is never happened before.
“Nobody knew about ladies golf before but I am happy that today ladies Golf has come to stay.”
Speaking on how to move the game forward Ekwueme; “And if Nigeria is ready to compete well with other African counterparts, there is needs to improve on junior ladies’ golf development, that will be the best way to challenge another country in Africa. We need to catch them young.”
Giving hint on the handing over, she disclosed that election has been held, the leadership emerged which is my vice, and we have handed over to the next President, the standard has been created, we need to keep standard Nigeria flag must be flying high, it’s not about me, it’s about Nigerian.”
On her own, the newly elected president of LGAN Cole-Kodas vowed to build on the standard put in place by her predecessor.
“I want to build on what my predecessor has put in place, we had an election and I believe we are good to go”
When asked on what to do to ensure Nigeria win the next year edition as Ugandan has won the last two editions in Uyo and Abuja Respectively, the New President replied ” I think we have to change our formula and focus and have more determination that is the only way for us to compete strongly.
“We are going to work tiredness and focus on grassroots development to make sure Nigeria to the forefront
“We shall do everything possible that next year we shall give them run for their money.” She promised.
Meanwhile, at the end of this year’s edition a Ugandan, Irene emerged the overall winner have netted 236 to defeated a Nigerian Racheal Dajuma who came second with 248 in the 3 days tournament.

FCT Outplays Edo to Grab Handball Bronze at Gateway Games

Team FCT bounced back from their narrow semi-final defeat to hosts Ogun State with an emphatic victory over Team Edo to secure the bronze medal in handball at the 2024 Gateway Games.
In the third-place match played on Tuesday at the Alake Sports Complex in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the resilient FCT side dominated proceedings and overpowered their Edo counterparts with a convincing 30–17 win.
Displaying determination and teamwork, Team FCT shook off the disappointment of missing out on the final and ended the tournament on a high, earning praise from spectators and officials alike for their spirited performance.
Speaking after the victory, FCT Handball Coach Ayo Joshua attributed the success to the team’s resilience and strong desire to win a medal.
“We planned for gold but, unfortunately, we couldn’t achieve that. However, we are happy that we didn’t leave Ogun State empty-handed—we were able to secure the bronze medal,” he said.
“We have the best team, skillful players who follow instructions, and by the grace of God, come the next festival in Enugu, FCT Handball will come out even stronger.”
