Kwara Sports Arena team to face Governor Abdulrahman’s selected side in Novelty match

Kwara Sports Arena team will on Sunday evening face Governor Abdulrahman’s selected team in a Novelty match to mark the first edition of Sports Arena Award night.

The Novelty match will be played at the Kwara state stadium complex on Sunday evening, December 20, from 4 pm.

Chairman of the Kwara Sports Arena Award Night Yaradua Yahaya explained that the Novelty match will be witnessed by top dignitaries in the State.

He also explained that the Arena Team will be coached by Coach Tunde Sanni and Coach Yomi Elijah while that of His Excellency will be under Coach Aliyu Zubairu of Gombe United and Kabiru Dogo of Lobi Stars.

Governor Abdulrahman, Deputy Governor Mr Kayode Alabi, Speaker of the House, Ambassador Yahaya Seriki, Kehinde Onimago, Honourable Gbenga JK, Alhaji Attahiru Ibrahim, are among those who will be playing for Governor Abdulrahman’s team.

On the other hand, Kwara State Director of Sports,  Coach Abdullahi Biffo, Chairman Abraysports, Chairman Kwara FA, Chairman Kwara United, Alhaji Toyin Olokoba, Mr Bola Mogaji, Doctor Steve Olarinoye, Mr. Hameed Adio, Doctor Joseph Adeyemo, Prince Ladi Thompson, Alloy Chukwuemeka, Mr Azeez Omoluabi, Alhaji Owolabi Wopa, GM Kwara United are among those who will be playing for the ARENA selected team.

 

The Local Organising Committee for the Sports Arena Award Night also made it clear that COVID-19 protocols will be adhered to before the encounter.

 

Also, invited guests for this encounter must make sure they come with their face masks for the Novelty match.

President Tinubu Decries Violence In Rivers, Directs Police To Provide Security To LGA Offices

President Bola Tinubu has called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara, political leaders and their supporters in Rivers State to exercise restraint and uphold the rule of law.

In response to recent tensions following last Saturday’s local government council election, the President expressed deep concern over reports of arson and explosions in the state.

He urged all political actors to de-escalate the situation and discourage their supporters from engaging in violence or destructive actions.

President Tinubu directed the police to restore and maintain peace, law, and order immediately.

While instructing law enforcement agencies to bring the situation under control, he emphasised the need to ensure the security of public institutions.

President Tinubu said government facilities built with public funds must be safeguarded from vandalism.

He stressed that self-help has no place in a democratic system, especially after 25 years of continuous democracy.

According to President Tinubu, the judiciary can settle all political disputes, and the outcome of this election should be no exception.
