NMA Names BSN Sports Publisher Media Officer of National Team Ahead 2021 AFCON

Publisher, BSN Sports, Mr Niyi Busari has been appointed as the Media Officer for the Nigeria Minifootball Association, NMA, ahead of the 2nd edition of the African Minifootball Cup of Nations coming up in Ibadan, Nigeria.

This is contained in a letter titled; ‘Your Appointment As National Team Media Officer’ and signed by Davids Adewoye, General Secretary of NMA. The letter reads; “In view of your none desire for rewards in cash or in kind  on activities in all the Association’s past programmes, the Nigeria Minifootball Association (NMA) resolved to appoint you (Niyi Busari) as the Association Media Officer for the 2nd Edition of African Minifootball Nations Cup  to hold in Ibadan, in few months time. We  appreciate as you commence your official duties as soon as we flag off the Camping.

“We trust your ability to give Minifootball the greatest publicity beyond expectations. We wish you the best of time with the Nigeria Minifootball Association.”

The largest city in Nigeria, Ibadan, will host 20 African countries who will be contesting for the title in the 10-day championship which commence on 8th July to 17.

The African Minifootball Cup (AMC) is a continental indoor minifootball competition contested by the senior men’s national teams of the members of African Minifootball Federation (AMF). The first edition of the tournament was held in Libya in May 2018. The second edition Was scheduled for last year but was postponed due to Coronavirus pandemic.

Salifu Abubakar Usman, Group Sports Editor of LEADERSHIP Newspaper, has been honoured with the Fellow of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) award, in recognition of his exceptional support for the association, professional journalism, and his significant contributions to sports development in Nigeria.

The esteemed accolade was presented during SWAN’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration, held in Abuja, marking 60 years of excellence in sports journalism across the nation.

Upon receiving the award, Salifu expressed profound gratitude, describing the honour as a source of inspiration and renewed motivation to further his lifelong dedication to sports reporting, promotion, and growth.

“This award gives me hope and motivation to do more. It’s a source of inspiration for me and my family, and I believe it will encourage me further in sports reporting and sports development in Nigeria,” he stated.

Salifu highlighted that this recognition serves as a morale boost following decades of hard work and impactful contributions within Nigeria’s sports community and beyond.

The SWAN Diamond Jubilee Celebration attracted prominent figures from sports administration, the media, and government sectors to celebrate individuals and organisations whose efforts have significantly advanced sports development and journalism in Nigeria.
