Gymnastics: We’ll Work With Federation To Acquire Modern Equipment- Adamu

Micheal Adamu on Monday emerged as the athletes’ representative on the board of the Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria, after polling 47 out of the 49 votes cast in an election held at the package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Following his election, Adamu pledged to work with the new board and the Federation to acquire the modern equipment that would help in developing the sport.

“I started gymnastics when I was eleven years old and I know the problem that we are facing and I will try my possible best to support our leaders of the Federation to see how we can get latest equipment,” he said.

He canvassed that the Federation and the board members should increase their efforts to solve the challenges presently faced by the gymnasts.

“I  will try my best as the players’ representative to defend the players and to also support the Federation on how to develop the sports in Nigeria,” he said.

” I promise to work hard and so that I can make it higher in my career as a gymnast and I have a lots of things planned to achieve and the welfare of players,” he added.

Kelvin Ehrunmuwse, the out-going caretaker President of the Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria said he was happy that the athlete’s representative election ended well.

“It was a free and fair election and the results came out fine and for me it’s make me so happy, all the gymnasts in Nigeria are here to give their votes 47 against 7.

“I am very happy that my candidate came out well, that’s to tell you that I am doing well and am very happy and encouraged as the election ended without any controversy.

“We have some candidate saying things on the issue and pulled out in the middle of the election and the attitude, well he didn’t want to pull out. He wanted to step down but the athletes voted their mind,” he said.

Earlier, Anthony Asuquo, also a candidate in the athletes’ representative election, bowed out of the election after complaining of irregularities in the process.

“We all want the best and to see the growth and development of the Federation and we all have the same dream for the sport,” he said

NVBF seeks continuous partnership with Abia Govt after successful 2025 Nat Div 1 & 2

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) have expressed profound appreciation to the Government and people of Abia State for their outstanding support and collaboration during the successful hosting of the final phase of the 2025 National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball Leagues.

In a statement signed by Engineer Musa Nimrod, NVBF President, the federation commended Abia State for its warm hospitality and commitment to the development of sports, particularly volleyball.

Nimrod explained that the successful event was a result of the strong partnership between the federation and the state government.

He said, “The Board of Administration of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, on behalf of the entire volleyball community in the country, wishes to express profound gratitude to the Government and people of Abia State for their noble collaboration in organizing the final phase of Division 1 and 2.”

He further highlighted that Abia State is gradually becoming a hub for volleyball in Nigeria.

Nimrod attributed the growth of volleyball to the government’s investment in youth and sports development.

He emphasised the NVBF desire to sustain and strengthen this partnership to further promote volleyball and empower young athletes across the nation.

“The federation remains grateful and looks forward to a more robust and progressive partnership with the Abia State Government in the future.”
