NBBF Has No Constitution-Osita Nwachukwu
A former board member of the Nigeria Basketball Federation,NBBF under Engr.Musa Kida led board Osita Nwachukwu, has revealed that the federation has no legal document called the consistution.
Nwachukwu who emerged as NBBF Vice President in Abuja made the revelation on Tuesday in a chat with Journalists at the nation’s capital,Abuja.
According to him, the document being brandish as constitution was never endorsed by the NBBF congress.
“Let me state clearly here, the NBBF never had a constitution, what we have before was the Tijani Umar’s constitution that was never accepted. The claim that NBBF congress endorsed a constitution on April 13, 2019 is false and a big lie.
“What happened on that said day was only a stakeholders meeting; of which I was part of.
Also, if the NBBF had endorsed that constitution, the dissolution of the NBBF board in May 2021, would have been resisted by whole basketball family, including Kida himself. Having accepted the position of a caretaker chairman, Engr. Musa Kida lacks the power to act under what he called constitution.”Nwachukwu stated.
The NBBF Vice President explains that the Abuja January 31, 2022 election was the authentic one, stating that the Abuja’s election followed the ministry’s guidelines and instructions.
“Our election is the authentic one because we followed the ministry’s order.
“Remember, we started with the Players’ Rep and Technical Rep conducted by the Ministry in which Kida was part of, and also, the ministry ordered that the election must hold on January 31, 2022 at the MKO Abiola stadium, Abuja. Tell me, do you change the rule of a game in the middle of the game? “He queried.

Nigeria @ 65: Igoche Mark Pays Homage to Nigerian Athletes for Contributions

Joel Ajayi
As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence anniversary on Wednesday October 1, Basketball Promoter and Initiator of Mark D’ Ball Basketball Championship, Mr. Igoche Mark, has commended the country’s athletes for their outstanding contributions.
In a heartfelt message, Mr. Mark praised active and retired athletes for consistently putting Nigeria on the global map through their dedication, hard work, and achievements. “Your dedication, hard work, and achievements have not only brought us pride but have also inspired a generation of Nigerians,” he stated.
The Sports Administrator urged the National Sports Commission to establish a platform to celebrate these athletes and recognize their invaluable contributions to Nigerian sports. He emphasized the need to honour their legacy and provide a framework for their continued involvement in sports after retirement.
To support athletes in transition, Mr. Mark recommended that “retirement plans be implemented to ensure a seamless transition into life after sports. This would enable athletes to plan for their future and maximize their post-athletic careers.”
Furthermore, he proposed a welfare package for retired athletes, including access to healthcare, education, and economic empowerment programs. “By doing so, we can show our appreciation for their service and ensure that they are taken care of,” Mr. Mark added.
As Nigeria celebrates its 65th Independence anniversary on October 1, with the theme “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation,” Mr. Mark’s sentiments echo the sentiments of many Nigerians who believe in the importance of recognizing and supporting the country’s athletes.
