The NPFL- A Cash Cow In 100 Years Bondage – Harrison Jalla Perspective

The Nigeria professional football league (NPFL) the flagship of Nigeria domestic football was dubiously outsourced in 2012 to an interim management committtee set up as a stop gap measure to resolve the internal crises after the last two NPL chairmen ( Prince Davidson owumi and chief Rumson Victor Baribote) were illegally removed from office.

This stop gap measure was to pave way for election to be conducted to elect the NPL Board. This was the state of affairs of the NPL before the progenitors and initiators of the LMC/ NPFL (Nduka Irabor and Shehu Dikko) goaded and conned the NFF to enter into a 100 years management agreement and transmuted what was initially an interim committe to a league management company through the intervention of former Minister of Sports Hon. Bolaji Abdulahi. Trust Amaju Pinnick who sniffs opportunities even from afar. On assumption of office as NFF president Pinnick immediately threw his weight behind Shehu Dikko and his illegal contraption called the LMC.

A company called Mediterranean sports limited was quickly deployed to ferry over $60m sponsorship money in five years into private pockets. The bulk of these sponsorship money is from the super sports broad cast right contract. The flagship of Nigeria domestic football is a shadow of itself today from the height chief Oyiuki Obaseki of blessed memory, Prince Davidson Owumi/ chief Rumson Victor Baribote propelled it.

Inspite of all these huge resources as we speak today NPFL is still on a rented apartment, No salaries for its staffs in the last three years and no money for indemnities for match officials for several years, the LMC is bankrupt and at the brink of receivership yet boastful NFF president maintains that the NFF has achieved 85% self funding with dead domestic leagues.

Those who frittered away, embezzled or looted our football treasury and still think it would be business as usual should have a rethink because Project 2022 task force has added recovery of all football stolen funds to its mandate whether at the state or federal level.

AACT 2026: 31 Days to Africa’s Big Sporting Gathering in Abuja

The countdown to the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) has officially entered the final month, with just 31 days to go before Africa’s leading women’s team golf championship tees off at the IBB International Golf & Country Club in Abuja.

In a statement signed by the AACT 2026Director of Communication Kayode Adeniyi on Friday in Abuja.

Under the theme “Africa Is Coming to Abuja,” the countdown campaign will spotlight the championship, the participating nations, the players, the host venue and the growing development of women’s golf across the continent.

The 2026 AACT, scheduled for November 2–7, will bring together women’s golfing talent from across Africa for six days of continental competition in Nigeria’s capital.

As preparations continue at the IBB International Golf & Country Club, attention is increasingly turning to Abuja, where the championship will provide a platform for African golfers to compete while also showcasing Nigeria’s hospitality and the country’s growing profile as a destination for major sporting events.

The countdown will feature daily stories, interviews, player and country profiles, tournament facts, behind-the-scenes updates and features on the host venue as the championship draws closer.

The campaign will also highlight the role of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN), the Local Organising Committee and other stakeholders in preparing for the continental championship.

With just 31 days remaining, anticipation is building across the African golfing community as Abuja prepares to welcome the continent’s leading women golfers.

Africa is coming to Abuja.
