Sports Perfect Platform For Youth To Make Great Impact In Nigeria-Hawau Gambo
..As maiden National Peace Olympics berth in Abuja

Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC, Assistant Director Media Relations Hajia Hawau Gambo has revealed that sports remains a perfect platform to really push younger Nigerians to make a great impact.
She stated this at the closing ceremony of the maiden edition of three-week long National Olympic Sports fiesta in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, with the theme ‘fostering national peace and unity through sports and games.
The National Peace Olympics 2022 initiative put together by the Elite Lawyers Association ,ELA, in headline partnership with UFUK Dialogue and Nigerian Tulip International Colleges ,NTIC, was aimed at bringing youths together for networking, interacting, meeting new friends and showcase their talents in different aspects of sports contests
She described the initiative as timely and commendable.
According to her, youths are the Energy engine room of this country, they drive entrepreneurs, they drive ICT, they are hungry for education, they care for their family, they bring innovation and there is a need to invest in them.
“I want to say here that these are the perfect platforms to push them forward for them to make a great impact in our nation Nigeria.
“This is a very important message that we need to take to our leaders’ ear, we need to develop them”, she said
Also, coordinator of the event, Barrister Solomon Ita Enang, described the event as successful, saying it achieved its objective.
“The main aim of the competition was achieved which is bringing youth together to networking, interacting, meeting new friends and showcase their talents in different aspects of sports contests”.
On his own, Managing Director of Tulip International School Feyzullah Bilgin said sports is important for the young people, for intelligence and better welfare.
“Sports help our young one to socialise, improve communication skills as well as leadership skills”.

Cricket: Nigeria To Host ICC U19 Men’s World Cup Qualifier

Nigeria Cricket Federation , NCF, says it is ready to host five other nations for the International Cricket Council ,ICC, Under 19 Men’s World Cup African Qualifier.
The tournament is billed for Lagos, with the matches to be held at the cricket ovals in Tafawa Balewa Square ,TBS, and the University of Lagos ,UniLag, from March 26 to April 6.
Uyi Akpata, President of the Federation, said in a statement on Sunday, that the tournament is about celebrating the growth of the game on the continent.
“Nigeria is thrilled to welcome these talented young cricketers and their supporters to Lagos.
“Our nation is known for its warm hospitality and fascinating cricketing potential, and we are committed to making this qualifier a memorable experience for all.
“This tournament is not just about competition; it’s about celebrating the growth of cricket in Africa and inspiring the next generation of players”, Akpata noted.
However, Kenya, Uganda, Namibia, Tanzania and Sierra Leone will join Nigeria to jostle for the continent’s sole ticket to the 2026 ICC Under 19 Men’s World Cup.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will be hoping to secure the ticket, having achieved same feat in 2019 and competing at the World Cup in South Africa 2020
