NLO 1 : Fosla FC Beat Unruly Basira FC To Open up Six points Lead In Group F1

Fosla FC of Karshi Abuja at the weekend beat an ‘unruly’ Basira FC of Lafia by two goals to one, in one of the Group F1 of the Matchday 12 fixtures of NLO Division 1 League.

The match which was played at Fosla FC Stadium Karshi Abuja saw the visitors contesting all the decisions of the referees, until they scored a beauty of goal in the 26th minutes of the game. A through pass from the right wing was beautifully converted by a pacy attacker from the Basira team.

It became a ding dong affairs until the 36th minute of play when a corner kick beautifully taken by Abdullahi Mohammed (Kekere) was poorly handled by the visitors goalkeeper, and was nodded in by Ofozie ThankGod for the equalizer. The visitors held on to the match for about 6 minutes before game resumed again.

The second second half saw many stoppages and disruptions until the 86th minutes when Abdullahi Mohammed (Kekere) swing a free kick into the net for the second goal. The visitors refused to continue the match on the instructions of their Proprietor, until the referee blew his whistle at the expiration of the regular time and added time.

With the win, Fosla FC opened a 6 points leadership with 20 pts from 10 Matches, scoring 15 goals and conceding 7 goals. They are followed by Police FC with 14 pts, scoring 14 goals and conceding 11 goals. Police had at the weekend threw away a three zero lead against Supreme Court, and ended the game at 3 goals at piece. Same way they surrendered a four goals lead in the first stanza, ending up at 4-4.

Supreme Court FC has 13 pts with 16 goals advantage and 17 goals against. Setraco FC also have 13pts with 11 goals for, and 12 goals against.

Flight FC of Gboko have 12pts with 9 goals in favor and 6 goals against. Basira FC of Lafia has 12pts with 12 goals advantage and , 12 against. Mavlon FC and Onyibe FC are putting up the rear with 10 points and 8 points respectively.

NVBF President, Engr Nimrod Urges Families to Embrace Healthy Living at HOBA Novelty Sports

President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has called on Nigerian families to adopt healthy living habits through regular participation in sporting and fitness activities.

Nimrod made the call on Sunday during the third edition of the Hoba Development Association, Abuja Chapter, novelty sports event held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

He noted that physical activities such as sports are vital to fostering family bonds, community interaction, and overall well-being.

“The rate of health-related incidents such as slumping is increasing, but regular exercise helps improve the health of both parents and children,” he said. “Events like this bring families together, allowing parents and children to interact and know each other better.”

Also speaking, the stand-in Chairman of the Hoba Community, Barrister Nathan Naandeti, highlighted the significance of the annual novelty games, describing them as a unifying platform for members of the community.

“It’s something we do every year to promote unity, togetherness, and fitness among our people. Sports is part of who we are,” he stated.

Men, women, and children from the Hoba community participated in various sporting activities, including volleyball, badminton, football, and aerobics—all aimed at encouraging relaxation, fitness, and bonding among families.
