Abuja International Marathon To Engage 2000 FCT Volunteers

The organizer of the much awaited maiden edition of the Abuja International Marathon AIM has revealed that the event will not only boost the image of the Nigeria’s capital territory but would go a long way by engage over 2,000 volunteers.

The marathon first of its kind in the city is designed to empower the youths, improve the FCT’s economy; especially the hospitality industry, transportation and the others.

It will be recalled that organizer last week revealed that, over 20,000 Athletes international and local athletes will participate in the maiden Abuja International Marathon scheduled to hold on Dec. 17 2022 in Nigeria’s capital Territory.

Why giving the hint on what project coordinator of AIM Femi Abegunde said Abuja, a beautiful city with excellent   road   network deserves an international marathon that will showcase her beauty to the world.

He said the Marathon is to empower the youths, improve the FCT resident.

 According to him, the race will engage 2000 FCT residents as volunteers.

“All volunteers will get a Certificate of Commendation signed by the FCT Minister of State.

“Also, from the race, FCT A intends to build a volunteer database useful for other world-class events it would host in the nearest future.”

Mr Abegunde added that, Abuja International Marathon aims is to become a qualifier for the Olympics Games, World Athletics Championships, and the Abbott World Marathon Majors (Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago Tokyo and New York City), within three years.

While speaking the Senator Ayo Akinyelure in his remarks said NASS is fully represented here to give needed support for the Marathon that will enhance the image of FCT the more.

CSO Salutes Trump

A Civil Society Organization (CSO) under the aegis of Initiative for Leadership Development and Change (ILDC) has congratulated President Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States of America.

Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, President of the CSO said this in an interview with the Newsmen in Abuja on Monday.

He expressed optimism over improvement on not just American economy but global economy with the inauguration of Trump.

“This is a man with greater vision of making environment around him great.

“In less than few hours of his inauguration, TikTok is back into existence, this shows how he is going to revive the world economy,” he said.

The ILDC boss who reiterated his confidence in Trump’s Presidency, described him as a man of clues and ideas to drive a stable America and the world at large.

He lauded Trump’s collaboration with global entrepreneurs like Elon Musk in an effort to revitalize America’s economy.

According to him, men and women of ideas flock together, they work together for better society and this is what Trump is doing.

Recall that Donald Trump became the 47th President of the U.S by polling 312 electoral votes Vice President Kamala Harris’ 226 votes in Nov, 2024.

Following the oath of office, Trump will address the nation before he is expected to parade across town to the White House and attend three inaugural balls in the evening

About 200,000 supporters are expected to visit the city to mark the presidential transfer of power.
