The tournament is a grassroots football event that has been existing for the last four years to discover some talent that can represent the most populous in the black anywhere in the world.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of this year’s championship weekend in Abuja Tom George Kingdom said the aim of the tournament is just to promote grassroots football and help talented Nigerian youth who have no platform.

According to him, we are excited, because we have all our top teams scattered in different groups, so we want to see all it takes for them to qualify again.

“We have 20 teams participating, in this tournament, we are going to have basically 5 stages, the group stage, and the knockout round, quarter-final, semi-final and final, so from group stages all 20 teams have been fixed to 4 groups, and two teams will qualify from group stages.

“And our standards we have made a new name called big 8, we are going to come out with 8 teams that will participate from our big 8 tourneys next season.

“Nigeria has a lot of talent and it’s difficult for the NFF to go down to the grassroots and get these talented players. So, the vision is actually to go down to the grassroots levels, bring up these players and showcase them to the world because there is a lot of talent.”

Speaking also, was the representative of suicide football FC, Mr. Effiong Akwaowo expressed that his team is ready to come top at the end of the tourney.
