NFF General Assembly to Decide on Expansion of Congress, Executive Committee – Minister

One of the key recommendations of the 10 Year Football Development Masterplan report is the expansion of the NFF General Assembly and Executive Committee.
The report suggested an expansion of the voting delegates at the NFF elective congress from forty four(44) to one hundred and eleven(111) and a slight increase in the number of Executive Committee members from fifteen (15) to sixteen(16), to accommodate a woman in line with FIFA’s thinking and new global practice.
The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare has said the final decision on this recommendation lies with the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) General Assembly.
Speaking on Tuesday at the State House, Aso Rock Villa, Abuja during the presentation of the Masterplan report to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister affirmed that only the NFF Congress can make the expansion a reality.
“Mr President has called for fairness and equitable representation of stakeholders in our football administration and the Masterplan report also recommended the expansion of the constituents for the NFF elective congress and Executive Committee to make it meet new realities and needs.
“The report called for the increase of the NFF elective congress voting delegates to 111 and the Executive Committee to 16.
“The NFF Congress(General Assembly)will have to make final decision on this,” Dare stated.

Gov. Abiodun lCommends NPFL for harmonised Calendar

Joel Ajayi
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun is excited with developments in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) which he said has been able to establish a pattern for its calendar.
Abiodun spoke while receiving a delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by the President, Ibrahim Gusau and Chairman of the NPFL, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye. They were in Abeokuta to felicitate the Governor following the official presentation of the 2024/25 NPFL season trophy to Remo Stars.
The Governor said it is commendable that the NPFL season has been adjusted to run parallel to most global leagues which are concluded before the month of June.
“While the champions, our own Remo Stars from Ogun State was crowned on Sunday, there is just one more game to conclude the season which means the season will be shutting down this May just as will be the case with most European leagues. This is commendable”, remarked Abiodun who was in Ikenne for the elaborate trophy presentation ceremony.
He also lauded the NPFL Board led by Elegbeleye for organising a hitchfree season that produced a champion without rancor.
“It is to the credit of the NPFL Board led by my brother, Elegbeleye that we had this beautiful trophy celebrations today with all stakeholders united in agreement that we have a worthy winner in Remo Stars”, the Governor told his guests which also had in attendance, some NFF Board members including Ganiyu, Aisha Falode and Silas Agara
