2022 NOC Election: Electoral Committee Wrongfully Disqualifies Engr.Gusau and Mr.Adeleye
The Nigeria Olympic Committee’s Electorial Body has disqualified Engr.Ibrahim Shehu Gusau and Mr.Sunday Adeleye of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria from contesting Thursday’s election.
Engr.Ibrahim Shehu Gusau and Mr.Sunday Adeleye were both seeking election into the position of the President and the Treasurer of the NOC respectively.
The Electorial Committee headed by Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima said the duo failed to meet the guidelines set up by the committee.
“The documents presented by Hon. Ibrahim Gusau for the position of President and Mr. Sunday Adeleye for the post of Treasurer did not meet the requirements as contained in the Electoral Guidelines.”The Electorial Committee said.
Reacting to the disqualification, Mr.Sunday Adeleye said the electorial committee must come clean and must apply rule of fairness and equity in conducting the election,as he vowed to stop Tonobok Okowa from voting in Thursday’s election. He said the Electorial Committee has no right to disqualify them despite being legitimate delegates to the elective congress.
“The plot to disqualify us has been there since time immemorial.I challenge the electorial committee to come clean as we are going to resist every attempt and plans to allow one Tonobok Okowa from Delta state to vote tomorrow. It is unfortunate that despite being legitimate delegates the electorial committee decided to play politics with people who are at the depature lounge.” Adeleye stated.

NVBF President, Engr Nimrod Urges Families to Embrace Healthy Living at HOBA Novelty Sports

Joel Ajayi
President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has called on Nigerian families to adopt healthy living habits through regular participation in sporting and fitness activities.
Nimrod made the call on Sunday during the third edition of the Hoba Development Association, Abuja Chapter, novelty sports event held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
He noted that physical activities such as sports are vital to fostering family bonds, community interaction, and overall well-being.
“The rate of health-related incidents such as slumping is increasing, but regular exercise helps improve the health of both parents and children,” he said. “Events like this bring families together, allowing parents and children to interact and know each other better.”
Also speaking, the stand-in Chairman of the Hoba Community, Barrister Nathan Naandeti, highlighted the significance of the annual novelty games, describing them as a unifying platform for members of the community.
“It’s something we do every year to promote unity, togetherness, and fitness among our people. Sports is part of who we are,” he stated.
Men, women, and children from the Hoba community participated in various sporting activities, including volleyball, badminton, football, and aerobics—all aimed at encouraging relaxation, fitness, and bonding among families.
