NYSC At 50: What Next Africa Donates Laptops To Scheme

As the National Youth Service Corps prepares to celebrate it’s 50th Anniversary of tremendous contributions to national development, a Non-Governmental Organisation, What Next Africa, has donated fifty new laptop computers to enhance the smooth operations of the Scheme.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the Director, Press and Public Relations Eddy Megwa said the organization applauded the contributions of the NYSC in the areas of education, health, rural development and other sectors in the last fifty years.
Speaking during the presentation of the laptop computers to the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed at the National Directorate Headquarters, the Executive Director of What Next Africa, Mr Temitope Ogunlusi described Corps Members as good role models to the young ones who needs the support of every stakeholder.
He said the organisation prepares students for post-secondary life, adding that was the need to stem the tide of challenges from transiting from teenage to adulthood.
In his remarks during the presentation, the Director, Planning Research and Statistics, Alhaji Ahmed Wada Ikaka described What Next Africa as a Trans- Continental organisation that prioritizes career development, guidance and counselling of Secondary School students, but decided to add value to the human capital development of the NYSC.
While appreciating the donor on behalf of the Scheme, the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed promised the effective utilization of the computers.

Small and medium enterprises, particularly in the transport, finance, and food service sectors, will become some of the greatest beneficiaries, as the Games generate new demand and expand opportunities for local businesses.
The Commonwealth Games will also accelerate the growth of Nigeria’s sports industry.
Investments in training facilities, coaching, and talent development will inspire a new generation of athletes, ensuring long-term benefits that extend beyond 2030, a major focus of the President Bola Tinubu administration.
At the same time, the process of preparing for the Games will create opportunities for Nigerians to learn new crafts, acquire technical skills, and engage in global-standard event management, thereby strengthening human capacity and innovation across industries.
Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the Nigeria Sports Commission, and Hon. Bukola Olopade, the Director General, have been widely recognized for their tireless and visionary leadership in repositioning Nigeria’s sporting sector.
Their commitment to facilitating infrastructural development and strengthening grassroots sports development has laid the foundation for Nigeria’s bold bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
