NFF President Visits Gov.Umo Eno,Says Next Six Super Eagles’ Matches To Be Held In Uyo

The next six international matches of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, begining with the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against São Tomé and Principe on September 10, 2023, as well as the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.
The President of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, stated this when he paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Pastor Umo Eno, at Government House, Uyo, Thursday.
He thanked the government for its previous support to the team, adding that the winning record as well as the conducive environment in the state informed the decision of the country’s football body to choose Uyo as the host city.
Accompanied by the South-South representative on the NFF board, Otuekong Nse Essien and some state FA Chairmen including the Chairman of Akwa Ibom state Football Association Normalization Committee, Prince Bonny Nyong, as well as other stakeholders, Gusau said that he was in the state to solicit the support and cooperation of state Government with regard to the hosting of these matches and announced that the Godswill Akpabio International stadium has been approved by both FIFA and CAF to host international matches in the country.
In his response, Governor Umo Eno assured the NFF President of the support and cooperation of the Government and people of state and stated that the Nest of Champions is an internationally acclaimed stadium whose maintenance contract with construction giants, Julius Berger, he has recently renewed.
Also in attendance were Akwa Ibom state Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Sir Monday Uko, the Chairman of Akwa United Football Club, Elder Paul Bassey and members of Akwa Ibom state Football Association Normalization.

In a warm gesture of unity, oneness, togetherness and goodwill, the Chairman of Air Warriors Basketball Club, Abuja, Alhaji Abddulmajid Solademi, hosted a group of Basketball Journalists on Saturday at his residence in celebration of the Sallah festivities in Abuja.
The gathering that shows the importance of love, peace, and unity values which is crucial not just for the advancement of basketball, but for the overall progress of the nation.
However, the Sallah is a time to reflect on our shared humanity,” he said. “It’s a moment to support one another and to uphold the values that bring us together, rather than divide us.”
Guests at the event shared stories, enjoyed meals, Asun Rice, Oriental rice, Jollof Rice, Swallow in variety with a lot of drinks that mede them to engaged in meaningful discussions on the development of sports in Nigeria, with a special focus on grassroots basketball.
Many attendees praised Solademi for his unwavering support for the sporting community and his ongoing commitment to using sports as a powerful tool for youth empowerment and social transformation.
