House Committee On Sports Won’t Fail Nigerians On Sports Development – Hon. Ekene Adams

Chairman, House Committee on Sports, Honourable Ekene Abubakar Adams, has assured Nigerians that the House Committee On Sports of the 10th assembly will do everything in making sure that the country’s sports move to where it ought to be under his watch.

He stated that the legislative arm of government will put in place policies and bills for sports development. He added that the Committee has mapped out plans to put to rest some of the challenges facing Nigerian sports.

Hon. Ekene Adams, a member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in Kaduna State said in an interview with authoritative Nigeria news channel Arise TV.

“My committee and I have no excuse to fail on this assignment because, for the first time in Nigerian sports history, one of its own has become the Chairman of the House Committee of Sports.

“To achieve this, we want to gather sports stakeholders for interaction and combine forces to move the system forward. To avoid stagnancy, we need to go back to the drawing board and ensure key stakeholders take over relative affairs and restore credence to private entities and investors.

He said the assignment before the House Committee will commence with having a peace parley with the Nigeria Football Federation on Tuesday.

He also assured that the Committee will make sure that the two bills that were not passed under the 9th Assembly would be passed.

“I believe there are many bills tabled by the lawmakers owing to the push by the 9th Assembly, noting the Sports Commission and Sports University bills pending implementation from the 10th Assembly. We will ensure that these bills are and other important ones are passed as soon as possible.”

Lawal Delivers Another Brilliant Performance in Europe

After displaying great form for Istra 1961against Vukovar in the score draw encounter in the elite league few days ago in Croatia, Salim Fago Lawal has continued to enjoy rave of the moment status in the Eastern European nation.

On Wednesday, Lawal was on the scores sheet for Istra in the 75th minute against Kurilovec, but it was only for consolation, as Istra crashed out of Croatian cup in round 16.

It was a masterpiece display from the former Flying Eagles striker, whose work rate has shown great development after joining Istra from modest Nigerian clubside in 2023.

He has scored three goals and two assists, totally five – goal contribution as a striker so far this season.

Interestingly, two other Flying Eagles players, Israel Ayuma and Charles Agada, who are also former players of Mavlon FC, featured in the game and they gave good account of themselves.

Sadly, it was not the day of victory on the pitch for the three former players of Mavlon FC of Lagos.
