I Will Do My Best To Grow Sports Sector In Nigeria- Minister

The Honourable Minister of Sports Senator John Owan Enoh has revealed that with the support of every stakeholder in the sports ministry under his watch will leave no stone unturned to ensure the desired growth and development of the sports industry in the country and beyond.

Minister gave the assurance when he undertook an inspection tour of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Wednesday, to assess the state of facilities in the edifice.
Addressing newsmen during the tour it is obvious sports sector attracts the attention of many in Nigeria that is why we need to do our best at the sports ministry to give the best that will turn the fortune of sports in Nigeria.
“It is therefore very important that we get it right. We must maintain the current infrastructures that we have, and look towards making them better, to match what we have across the world.”
“Facilities and infrastructures are a key component of sports, as they are variables that drive both elite performance and grassroots development.
“The ministry under my leadership will do all that it can, to get every part of the stadium functional, including the athlete’s hostel, because athletes must have the best, to be the best”
Facilities included are the Main bowl of the stadium, the Velodrome, the facility building, the athletes’ hostel, the Federation and Elite Athletes Department (FEAD), the Power Technical Building, as well as other facilities in the edifice.
Minister also visited the abandoned Athlete’s Hostel built in 2003 to be precise as part of the country’s facilities for hosting the 9th All Africa Games under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo
Having seen the state of the facilities, Senator John Enoh vowed to bring back to life the abandoned huge majestic 250 rooms three stars athletes Hotel built with a huge amount of money 20 years ago for the progress of the athletes inside the now MKO Abiola National Stadium Package B Abuja.

Paul Salami’s Stunning Hat-Trick Sinks 10-Man Melbourne Sharks in U23 Showdown
Nigerian-born midfielder Paul Salami stole the show with a sensational hat-trick, leading his side to a dominant 3-0 victory over the Melbourne Sharks in Week 9 of the Australian U23 League.
The 21-year-old rising star opened the scoring in the 20th minute, calmly finishing off a swift counter-attack to put his team ahead. The momentum shifted further in their favor when Sharks defender Liam Mastos received a straight red card in the 40th minute for a reckless challenge, forcing the home side to play with 10 men.
Salami continued to exploit the numerical advantage with clinical precision. He netted his second goal in the 52nd minute, capping off a well-orchestrated team move, before sealing his hat-trick in the 75th minute with a composed finish that left the goalkeeper with no chance.
Operating with poise and creativity in midfield, Salami’s performance was a masterclass in attacking intelligence, control, and execution. His match-winning display not only earned him the match ball but also solidified his growing reputation as one of the most exciting young talents in the league.
