Enoh Restates Commitment To Sports Development in Nigeria

The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh has restated that he will explore all necessary avenues to ensure the resuscitation of sporting facilities across the country so as to provide  the nation’s athletes with an enabling environment to compete favourably with their counterparts globally.

 
The Minister gave the assurance today in his office at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja when he received the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi and her team.


He stated that sports development is one of the cardinal priorities of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration and thus, no stone would be left unturned in the realization of the objective.


Senator Enoh explained that this is one of the reasons why he has accepted to operate from the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, being a very definitive National Monument, the best multi-purpose Stadium Complex in Africa and has all the necessary facilities which can stand alongside international Stadia in contemporary age.


He informed that one of his earnest desire is to see sports develop right from the grassroots, that is, the primary, secondary, even to the University environment with a view to having best representations for all games that the country is participating in.


The Minister expressed his appreciation to the Vice Chancellor, the Management Team as well as the University of Calabar Alumni in particular, for felicitating with him on his appointment, assuring that he will not fail in lifting the name of the Alma Mater high, through the diligent discharge of his mandate in line with the policy thrust of the present administration.


Speaking earlier, the Vice Chancellor, University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi said she was in the Ministry to felicitate with one of their own on his appointment as the Honourable Minister of Sports Development.


She thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding him worthy of such a challenging appointment, adding that the University of Calabar and Cross Riverians are proud of him and solidly behind him, as such will continue to support him, not only to transform sports as a viable sector of the economy but to also ensure that Nigeria joins the Committee of sporting nations.


The Vice Chancellor who was accompanied on the visit by the Registrar, Ambassador Gabriel Egbe;Director, Academic Planning, Prof Omoogun and Alumni Relations Officer, Sir Dorn Cklaimz Enamhe also presented a Card of Felicitation to the Honourable Minister.

From Streets to Stardom: Unique Futbol Academy Scouting Program Inspires Ibadan’s Young Footballers

Ibadan is buzzing with excitement as the Unique Football Academy Scouting Program kicks off, bringing together top European football clubs and talented young Nigerian players.

The four-day program, which commenced on Monday, features a delegation of four directors from prominent European teams, including two from Kosovo and one from India, led by renowned football agent Diego Martins from Portugal.


The scouting program aims to identify and select outstanding players who will be given opportunities to showcase their skills in Europe.

Successful players will be offered the chance to take their careers to the next level, with the organizers assuring them of opportunities abroad.


According to the Director of the program and founder of Unique Football Academy, Mr. Jelil Oladimeji, this is not the first time the academy has organized such an event.

“This is the 4th edition, and we are proud of the progress and impact we have made so far in terms of exposing our raw talent to the European market,” he said.


The program has already proven successful, with several players from previous editions going on to excel in European leagues. Some notable examples include Haruna Saleh with PAOK in Greece and Praisegod Emersons in Slovakia. 


As the program continues, clubs are gearing up to exhibit their talents, and the future looks bright for Nigeria’s young football stars.
