2023 AFCON: Alhassan Yusuf a good Replacement For Ndidi

The Belgian-based player, Alhassan Yusuf, is no doubt a good replacement for the Liescester Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi who withdrawn from Nigeria’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations because of injury he sustained.

Of a truth Yusuf’s inclusion is a plus to the Nigeria’s Super Eagles because of his skill, and ability to control the midfied.

The 23-year-old Yusuf is uncapped who helped Royal Antwerp to the Belgian league title last season and competed in all their Champions League group matches between September and December where he scored against Porto FC.

Alhassan Yusuf who played for FC Hearts of Abuja before traveling will now play for Super Eagles for the first time when 2023 AFCON commence in Ivory Coast, next week.

However, Nigeria open their Cup of Nations campaign on Jan. 14 with a Group A game against Equatorial Guinea. They will also meet hosts Ivory Coast and Guinea Bissau in their group matches, where many belives that Yusuf will contributes his quota to the success of Eagles.

Excitement is high as Team Nigeria’s para powerlifting contingent departed Nigeria on Tuesday, October 7, for the 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships set to take place in Cairo, Egypt, from October 9 to 18, 2025.

The milestone event marks the first-ever World Championships to be hosted on African soil, symbolizing a new era for the sport on the continent.

The first batch of Team Nigeria athletes left the country on Tuesday amid cheers and well-wishes from officials, fans, and supporters.

The second batch of the contingent is scheduled to depart tomorrow, October 8, from Lagos, completing the full team that will represent the nation at this landmark competition.

Speaking ahead of the departure, officials expressed confidence in the team’s readiness and determination to uphold Nigeria’s longstanding reputation as a force to be reckoned with, in global para powerlifting.

The National Sports Commission (NSC) reaffirmed its full support for the athletes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and excellence in sports.
