Impact Positively on Your Host Communities, DG Tells CMS

Corps Members have been advised to critically study their respective host communities after their Orientation Exercise and execute laudable projects that would improve the standard of living of the residents.
The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed stated this on Friday while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream Two Corps Members at Jigawa, Yobe and Borno State Orientation Camps.
He said all Corps Members must ensure that by the end of their service year, they leave lasting legacies of good projects in their host communities.
The Director General, who lectured the Corps Members on the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC, namely; Orientation Course, Community Development Service, Place of Primary Assignment and Winding-Up and Passing-Out activities, added that every Corps Member must participate actively and excel in all the four programmes before he can collect the Certificate of National Service.
General Ahmed also warned the Corps Members to always live peacefully, respect the culture and traditions of the communities they would be posted to, and avoid actions that may put them on collision with anyone.
“We have zero tolerance for misconduct in NYSC. Abide by the NYSC rules and regulations and stay safe throughout the service year”, the DG advised.
While giving the camp situation report to General Ahmed, the NYSC Jigawa State Coordinator, Mr Dawut Jidda said all the 1,484 registered Corps Members comprising 744 males and 740 females have been co-opted into all the camp committees and are working towards the success of the Orientation Course.
The NYSC Yobe State Coordinator, Mrs Salamatu A Muhammad informed the Director General that a total of 1,285 Corps Members comprising 703 males and 582 females were registered.
“They are well mannered and some of them have already start exhibiting leadership traits”, she said.
Similarly, the NYSC Borno State Coordinator, Mr Adamu Jiya disclosed that all the 1,162 Corps Members made up of 612 males and 550 females are in high spirits and
have all displayed high level of discipline and have been cooperating with the camp officials since the commencement of camp activities.

He emphasized that these principles are essential not only to the spiritual significance of the celebration but also to national development and peaceful coexistence.
“Eid is a time for reflection, sacrifice, and togetherness. As we celebrate, let us renew our commitment to building a more united, peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria,” he said.
Hon. Abdullahi expressed hope that the celebration would inspire a collective spirit among Nigerians and strengthen the bonds of love, empathy, and patriotism across communities.
He wished all Muslim faithful a joyous and fulfilling celebration, praying for continued peace and blessings upon the nation.
