Benue State FA Announces Kick Off Date For Chief Akor Andiir U17 Competition

The maiden Chief Akor Andiir And Benue State Football Association U17 tournament will kick off on Saturday 20th July, 2024 at the JS Tarka Stadium, Gboko.

The kick off date of the tournament was announced by the Chairman of Benue state FA, Chief Barrister Paul Edeh. He added that the competition will be played across the state to unearth and give opportunity to young players and also select the best of them for better opportunity.

Before the announcement, the state FA signed a partnership memorandum of understanding (MoU) with one of the foremost transports company in the state.
Hence, Flight Transport Services on Saturday became the official transports partner of Benue State Football Association.

The state U17 football tournament, named after the proprietor of the transport company, Chief Comrade Akor Andiir, will contribute to the development of football in Nigeria by discovering hidden talents for the underage national teams.

The state FA however, promised to donate medals, giant trophy, and 50 balls in support of the competition.

In addition to this, the state FA Chairman, Barrister Paul Edeh said he will sponsor the four coaches in the semi-final on free coaching course at the National Institute for Sports.

The organiser announced Monday 15th July, 2024 as the commencement date for the registration of interested clubs, adding that registration closes once the target of twenty teams has been achieved.

Paul Salami’s Stunning Hat-Trick Sinks 10-Man Melbourne Sharks in U23 Showdown

Nigerian-born midfielder Paul Salami stole the show with a sensational hat-trick, leading his side to a dominant 3-0 victory over the Melbourne Sharks in Week 9 of the Australian U23 League.

The 21-year-old rising star opened the scoring in the 20th minute, calmly finishing off a swift counter-attack to put his team ahead. The momentum shifted further in their favor when Sharks defender Liam Mastos received a straight red card in the 40th minute for a reckless challenge, forcing the home side to play with 10 men.

Salami continued to exploit the numerical advantage with clinical precision. He netted his second goal in the 52nd minute, capping off a well-orchestrated team move, before sealing his hat-trick in the 75th minute with a composed finish that left the goalkeeper with no chance.
