The Nigeria Cricket Federation’s (NCF) Brand Ambassador for Women’s Cricket, and renowned broadcaster, Adaora Onyechere Sydney-Jack, has expressed her commitment to using her expertise in community journalism to raise awareness for the sport of cricket in Nigeria.

Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja during a media engagement with stakeholders, she emphasized her determination to contribute towards increasing the visibility of cricket, particularly among women.

She stated:”When I look at women’s cricket in Nigeria, I see a bright future ahead.”On the global growth of women’s cricket, she added:

“If we begin to evaluate women’s cricket in countries like India, South Africa, and Australia, we see that they have succeeded due to strategic partnerships. As a brand ambassador, I will focus on fostering those partnerships and driving community development. This is where cricket can play a key role, and I will use my platform in community journalism to champion this cause.”

Also speaking at the event, NCF President Uyi Akpata highlighted the significant growth of Nigerian cricket over the past five years, particularly at the grassroots level. He attributed this success to the federation’s sustained efforts in developing the sport across the country, which has resulted in a steady increase in the number of cricketers nationwide.

Akpata also called on well-meaning Nigerians and corporate entities to support the federation’s initiatives.
