Mavlon’s Striker Oche Wins Golden Boot Award at Olea Tournament

The lethal weapon of Mavlon FC  Sunday Oche has won the golden boot award after scoring six goals in Olea Cup tournament in Croatia.

Oche, who has been described as the new ‘Oshimen’ due to his similar of play with the Super Eagles striker, showed his class at Olea Cup when he scored two consecutive hatricks to send strong messages to European clubs that another great goal poacher from Mavlon FC is around the corner waiting to embrace European club football.

It was not just his two hatricks that endeared Oche to the organisers of Olea Cup and scouts from some top European clubs, but the manner in which the goals were sublimely dispatched into the net.

The striker at 16 years old, is very proficient with both legs as witnessed by the goals he scored in the tournament. He scored a spectacular bicycle- kick goal against GNK Dinamo. 

He is also good aerially. He dribbles effortlessly to create space for himself to score and also create  assist. He is endowed with skills, strength and speed needed to flourish as a striker.

The goalkeepers of FK DAC and GNK Dinano will never forget in a hurry the way Oche condemned them into picking balls from the net in the tournament.

Mavlon FC came third in the tournament. The team did not win the tournament, but one that is definately sure is the fact that their young U17 players on display were delight to watch, from the goalkeeper to defenders, midfielders and attackers.

All these points to the fact that Mavlon FC is a bedrock 0 young talented footballers in Nigeria and the club will continue to discover and nurture talents in the round leather game.

Oche has shown great potential in Olea Cup in Croatia scoring six goals in the tournament and it will not be a surprise if some European clubs begin to jostle for his signature counting down to when he will clock 18 years.

Nigeria Customs Service Embarks on Training Tour

As part of preparations for the 2025 African Women’s Club Championship, the Nigeria Customs Service women’s volleyball team has embarked on a training tour in Benin Republic.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from April 1 to 14 in Abuja, Nigeria.

The team departed for Benin Republic on Wednesday.

The Sports Secretary of the Nigeria Customs Service, Samuel Onikeku, appreciated the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi MFR, and his management team for approving the training tour.

He emphasised that the tour would allow the players and coaching crew to assess their level of preparedness for the upcoming championship.

Onikeku expressed confidence in the team’s potential to make a strong impression at the tournament, citing the support received from the Federal Government of Nigeria, particularly through the First Lady, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON.

He said, “The volleyball team has traveled to Benin Republic for a 10-day training tour. The players have been in camp since February, and this tour will provide them with an opportunity to compete against teams outside the country.

“I want to appreciate the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi MFR, and his management team for approving this training tour.

“During the training tour, Nigeria Customs Service will take on strong opponents from Benin Republic, Ghana and Togo.

“The support we received from Nigeria’s First Lady, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, has been tremendous, and the team is committed to making the country proud.”

He said the service is determined to better their position after finishing fourth place in 2021.
