Joel Ajayi The Chairman House Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu has stated that Super Eagles B’s qualification for the Championship of African Nations Cup (CHAN) at the expense of Ghana is a good sign that the Nigeria’s flag will be hoisted at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.


The Home based Eagles on Saturday defeated their Ghanaian counterparts 3-1 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo after a 0-0 draw in the first leg in Accra.


Reacting after the victory, Honourable Amadu who represents Gusau/Tsafe Federal constituency in the House of Representatives said, “picking the CHAN ticket for the first time since 2018 is a sign for many good achievements in sports particularly in football.’


“I am so happy for the Home based Eagles for beating Black Galaxies to the ticket. Ending 2024 with this achievement is a sign that the senior national team will pick the FIFA World Cup ticket despite walking tight rope.” 


I, on behalf of the House Committee on Sports congratulate the Home based Super Eagles and the Nigeria Football Federation for finishing the year on a high, they should build on this achievement going into 2025 so that at the end of next year, football will put smiles on the faces of Nigerians.


As the CHAN finals holds in February, the NFF must start working on early camping CHAN Eagles to be among the title contenders.” 


“Despite not too bright hope for Super Eagles picking the 2026 World Cup ticket following their position on the log, this feat has raised my hope and that of many Nigerians that the three times African champions will qualify.” the Chairman concluded.


The 8th Championship of African Nations Cup is slated for February 2025 and will be co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.

Remain Calm, IBB International Golf Club Tells Members

It was an unusual scenario Saturday morning as the security agencies comprises of Police and DSS stormed the club, asking staff and members to vacate the club house and course.

While reacting to the incident, the release signed by Ibrahim Alhassan Babayo, the Captain of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, described the incident as unfortunate and unexpected.

Ibrahim Babayo accused some minority members with vested interest who collaborated with some security men to seal the club in an attempt to disrupt the scheduled Extra-ordinary General Meeting of the Club.

The release urged everyone to remain calm, assured them that all necessary legal steps will be taken to ensure that the process of filing the Board of Trustees, BOT, vacancies is conducted correctly despite the attempts to derail the process.

The Captain said the club will not relent in its efforts to ensure fairness, transparency and due process prevail.

While assuring the members of continued support and trust, the statement asked the staff and members to await further instructions.
