NSC DG Bukola Olopade arrives in Malaysia to boost support for Nigeria U19 Cricket team at the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup

The Nigeria U19 Cricket team have received a major boost with the arrival of the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon Bukola Olopade at the ICC T20 U19 Cricket World Cup in Malaysia.

The arrival of the DG has once again shown the unwavering commitment of the leadership of the NSC to support every sport in the country to achieve sustainable growth.

The Nigeria U19 Cricket team are creating history in Malaysia, having been Nigeria’s first ever team to be at a cricket World, recorded a big upset with their win over cricket giant , New Zealand to send shock waves to the entire cricket World.

The DG who has always been very enthused about the development of the so called lesser Sports in the country insisted that the success of the girls in Malaysia is very much predicated on the kind of support they get.

” At the Sports Commission we want to ensure that every Sport gets supported in the best way possible so that they can also grow alongside the commission” .

” This is why the NSC under the Chairmanship of Mallam Shehu Dikko is paying full attention to all the Sports”.

” And I am happy that even before I came here , the performance of the girls so far at this World cup is already generating so much excitement back home which is very good for the growth of the Sports”.

Team Nigeria Jets to Cairo for 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships

Excitement is high as Team Nigeria’s para powerlifting contingent departed Nigeria on Tuesday, October 7, for the 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships set to take place in Cairo, Egypt, from October 9 to 18, 2025. 


The milestone event marks the first-ever World Championships to be hosted on African soil, symbolizing a new era for the sport on the continent.


The first batch of Team Nigeria athletes left the country on Tuesday amid cheers and well-wishes from officials, fans, and supporters.

The second batch of the contingent is scheduled to depart tomorrow, October 8, from Lagos, completing the full team that will represent the nation at this landmark competition.


Speaking ahead of the departure, officials expressed confidence in the team’s readiness and determination to uphold Nigeria’s longstanding reputation as a force to be reckoned with, in global para powerlifting.


The National Sports Commission (NSC) reaffirmed its full support for the athletes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and excellence in sports.
