NFF President Ibrahim Gusau Exudes Confidence in Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 Chances

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Ibrahim Gusau, has expressed optimism about the Super Eagles’ chances at the upcoming AFCON 2025 tournament.


Reacting to the draw that pitted Nigeria against Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania in Group C, Gusau stated, “It is not a bad group, as I am optimistic that we will lead the group at AFCON 2025.


Gusau’s confidence stems from the team’s recent performances and the progress made under the current coaching crew. He believes that with adequate preparation and teamwork, the Super Eagles can navigate the group stage successfully.


The NFF President also acknowledged the importance of the tournament, emphasizing that the federation will provide all necessary support to ensure the team’s success.


“We will do everything possible to ensure that the Super Eagles are well-prepared for the tournament. We are confident that they will make Nigeria proud,” Gusau said.


With the AFCON 2025 tournament drawing near, Nigerian football fans will be eagerly watching the team’s progress, hoping that Gusau’s optimism is well-founded.

Team Nigeria Jets to Cairo for 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships

Excitement is high as Team Nigeria’s para powerlifting contingent departed Nigeria on Tuesday, October 7, for the 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships set to take place in Cairo, Egypt, from October 9 to 18, 2025. 


The milestone event marks the first-ever World Championships to be hosted on African soil, symbolizing a new era for the sport on the continent.


The first batch of Team Nigeria athletes left the country on Tuesday amid cheers and well-wishes from officials, fans, and supporters.

The second batch of the contingent is scheduled to depart tomorrow, October 8, from Lagos, completing the full team that will represent the nation at this landmark competition.


Speaking ahead of the departure, officials expressed confidence in the team’s readiness and determination to uphold Nigeria’s longstanding reputation as a force to be reckoned with, in global para powerlifting.


The National Sports Commission (NSC) reaffirmed its full support for the athletes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and excellence in sports.
