Teams confirm arrival dates as BetKing 3X3 Wheelchair Basketball Tournament begins in Abeokuta

As the Countdown to the 3X3 BetKing wheelchair Basketball Tournament billed for Ijeja in Abeokuta, Ogun state draws closer, teams have continued to confirm their readiness for the highly anticipated tournament.
The Board of the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation, NWBF, said ten out of the fifteen expected teams have confirmed their arrival dates.
The tournament which holds from April 3 to 7 2025 is one of the biggest Elite Wheelchair Championships in the calendar of the NWBF.
The NWBF said it expects a high level of competition and standard of play from all the teams because the tournament is expected to bring together the very best of the country’s top wheelchair players across the Country.
Organisers say a top level Technical Team has been put together to select outstanding players that will be invited to the National camp ahead of the Commonwealth Games qualifiers in South Africa later in the year.
President of the NWBF Seyi Johnson, said this is the reason why his board is putting everything in place to organise a world class tournament.
” This is one of our flagship tournaments for the year and from an organisation point of view we are determined to put our best foot forward to ensure a good tournament, worthy of the support we are getting from our sponsors, BetKing”.
” We urged more corporate bodies to partner with us to drive the growth of Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball”, he concluded.

NVBF President, Engr Nimrod Urges Families to Embrace Healthy Living at HOBA Novelty Sports

Joel Ajayi
President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has called on Nigerian families to adopt healthy living habits through regular participation in sporting and fitness activities.
Nimrod made the call on Sunday during the third edition of the Hoba Development Association, Abuja Chapter, novelty sports event held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
He noted that physical activities such as sports are vital to fostering family bonds, community interaction, and overall well-being.
“The rate of health-related incidents such as slumping is increasing, but regular exercise helps improve the health of both parents and children,” he said. “Events like this bring families together, allowing parents and children to interact and know each other better.”
Also speaking, the stand-in Chairman of the Hoba Community, Barrister Nathan Naandeti, highlighted the significance of the annual novelty games, describing them as a unifying platform for members of the community.
“It’s something we do every year to promote unity, togetherness, and fitness among our people. Sports is part of who we are,” he stated.
Men, women, and children from the Hoba community participated in various sporting activities, including volleyball, badminton, football, and aerobics—all aimed at encouraging relaxation, fitness, and bonding among families.
