COEASU Chairman Visits NTA, Calls For Support For Inter-Collegiate Basketball

As the plans to organize the intercollegiate Basketball Championship among the Colleges of Education in the North Central reaches advance stage, the organisers have continued to reach out to stakeholders for maximum support before, during and after the event.
The Chairman, Colleges of Education Association of Staff Union, COEASU, Zuba branch, Dr Saad Ibrahim was at NTA Sports Channel located at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja to solicit for cooperation in achieving their aims.
Accompanied by the Director of organisation for the Inter-collegiate Basketball Championship, Dr Abdulwahab Lawal, the COEASU Zuba branch Chairman said the aim of the event is to make the game of Basketball popular among the students in the North Central.
While congratulating the Channel for its giant stride in the areas of promoting grassroot Sports, Dr Saad Ibrahim said the Championship will also bring out more talents in the institutions.
Speaking in the same vein, Dr Abdulwahab Lawal who is the Championship Director of organisation said after achieving success with the North Central, the game will also be taking to other Colleges of Education in other zones of the Country.
Responding, the General Manager, NTA Sports Channel, Kayode Adeniyi commended COEASU for this initiative. He however advised that those discovered during the championship should be properly monitored and be given assistance to further both in their education and chosen Sports.
Meanwhile, Chairman, FCT Football Association, Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed, has called for strong collaboration between the Sports Administrators and media.
Adam Mouktar, the number one football administrator in the FCT, gave the advice when he paid a courtesy visit on the General Manager, NTA Sports, Kayode Adeniyi in his office.
While commending the journalists for their roles in the development and growth of sports, especially football in the FCT and Nigeria, the Chairman thanked the entire media for their commitment, and effective watchdog role in the sports sector.
Accompanied by Mrs. Pat Ayegba-Jubril, an FCT FA board member and head of the women’s football committee, Alhaji Adam Mouktar said FCT FA Board is open to innovative ideas that will further bring more developments of football to the FCT, especially at the grassroot level, especially the proposed inaugural FCT FA Inter-Area Councils Women’s Tournament, which is set to kick off on April 10, 2025.
He however congratulated the General Manager, NTA Sports, Kayode Adeniyi, on his appointment, urged him to bring forth his expertise to reposition media coverage of sports in the FCT and Nigeria as a whole.
On his part, the General Manager NTA Sports, Kayode Adeniyi, commended the board under the Chairman for their bold steps in repositioning Football in the Federal Capital Territory.
He promised that the station will continue to give adequate coverage for all events to be organized by the board

NVBF President, Engr Nimrod Urges Families to Embrace Healthy Living at HOBA Novelty Sports

President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has called on Nigerian families to adopt healthy living habits through regular participation in sporting and fitness activities.
Nimrod made the call on Sunday during the third edition of the Hoba Development Association, Abuja Chapter, novelty sports event held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
He noted that physical activities such as sports are vital to fostering family bonds, community interaction, and overall well-being.
“The rate of health-related incidents such as slumping is increasing, but regular exercise helps improve the health of both parents and children,” he said. “Events like this bring families together, allowing parents and children to interact and know each other better.”
Also speaking, the stand-in Chairman of the Hoba Community, Barrister Nathan Naandeti, highlighted the significance of the annual novelty games, describing them as a unifying platform for members of the community.
“It’s something we do every year to promote unity, togetherness, and fitness among our people. Sports is part of who we are,” he stated.
Men, women, and children from the Hoba community participated in various sporting activities, including volleyball, badminton, football, and aerobics—all aimed at encouraging relaxation, fitness, and bonding among families.
