By Joel Ajayi
Nalaba Vincent of Amazing Grace FC has been named Man of the Match after scoring a brace in the opening game of the inaugural Kuje Football League.
Vincent netted two goals to help Amazing Grace FC secure a 3-1 victory over Firestone FC on Sunday at the Kuje Township Stadium.
The much-anticipated Kuje Football League kicked off in grand style, organized by the Kuje Football Council in collaboration with Local Organizing Committee LOC.
The maiden edition of the league aims to discover young talent and promote unity through football across the Kuje Area Council.
Vincent, wearing jersey number 8, opened the scoring early in the first half and quickly added a second to complete his brace, giving Amazing Grace FC a 2-0 lead. Ten minutes later, Joseph Emmanuel added a third goal to extend the lead to 3-0.
Firestone FC managed to pull one back through Samuel Otisi, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback, as the match ended 3-1 in favor of Amazing Grace FC.
With this strong start, Amazing Grace FC has set the tone for what promises to be an exciting and competitive tournament.
The league features 10 teams, including Holy Ghost FC, Royal Eni FC, Crown Tee FC, Homeboys FC, Cargo FC, Rondo FC, and Amazing Grace FC, among others.
Over 180 matches will be played over five months, primarily on weekends, offering a vibrant platform for young talents to shine.

NVBF President, Engr Nimrod Urges Families to Embrace Healthy Living at HOBA Novelty Sports

Joel Ajayi
President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has called on Nigerian families to adopt healthy living habits through regular participation in sporting and fitness activities.
Nimrod made the call on Sunday during the third edition of the Hoba Development Association, Abuja Chapter, novelty sports event held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
He noted that physical activities such as sports are vital to fostering family bonds, community interaction, and overall well-being.
“The rate of health-related incidents such as slumping is increasing, but regular exercise helps improve the health of both parents and children,” he said. “Events like this bring families together, allowing parents and children to interact and know each other better.”
Also speaking, the stand-in Chairman of the Hoba Community, Barrister Nathan Naandeti, highlighted the significance of the annual novelty games, describing them as a unifying platform for members of the community.
“It’s something we do every year to promote unity, togetherness, and fitness among our people. Sports is part of who we are,” he stated.
Men, women, and children from the Hoba community participated in various sporting activities, including volleyball, badminton, football, and aerobics—all aimed at encouraging relaxation, fitness, and bonding among families.
