We’ve Made Several Breakthroughs In Alternative Medicine, Prof Amodu Reveals

One of Nigeria’s foremost phytomedicine researchers, Professor Benjamin Amodu says several breakthroughs have been recorded in the field of alternative medicine.

He made this bold claim while speaking with AljazirahNigeria Newspapers, in his laboratory in Abuja.

He asserted that with his about four decades of conducting several researches in this field, plus his many publications, he is aware of these breakthroughs.

“Having spent 38 years in this field of phytomedice research, and with about 39 publications in very high impact medical journals, we have recorded several breakthroughs in the field of alternative medicine,” he asserted.
The professor of phytomedicine from the Triune Biblical University, USA, then revealed areas where he has made innovations through his Halamin Herbals.

“For instance, we now resolve glaucoma and cataract without surgery. In the area of enlarged heart which takes a complicated open heart surgery to resolve clinically, we have resolved several cases without even seeing the patients, because when family members contact us and present the cases to us, we immediately give them our medication we have had cases where patients were to be sent to India for open heart surgery, but they commenced our medication while still awaiting their due dates, and the situation got resolved without any surgery because our drugs go into the arteries and arterioles to clean them up so that the heart is repaired and is returned to its normal size.

“Another one is diabetic ulcers on the leg which are resolved by amputation, but which we treat and the wounds heal, thereby eliminating the need for the patients to lose their limbs. We did one at the Garki General Hospital in Abuja here, where within six days, mam’s legs that was to be amputated got healed and the doctor were shocked. We talk about liver cancer with the Alpha-fetoprotein, AFP, going high. In the United Kingdom, UK, they say once it goes high, it never goes down, but when we give patients our medication, we see it being resolved. In the UK and other places, it could not normalise because they have cut part of the liver, thus making it impossible to be resolved.

“Then in issues of kidney where doctors where doctors say the kidney is totally bad, so patients should immediately begin dialysis and go for urgent transplant, we have been able to revive the kidneys, plus significant breakthroughs in various cancers. “For instance, a prostate cancer patient with 2,000 PSA has been resolved and brought down to 1.2 which means it has been cured. We have also been able to resolve breast cancers without surgery.”

Speaking further, he said: “Another area we have made significant breakthrough is hormonal imbalance which many health practitioners do not understand. You will find some women that their menses disappear, or they can even bleed for 30 days. We resolve all those things without the need for surgery; or is it goiter where you have a woman with an enlarged goiter who was booked for surgery, but which case we resolved without the need for her to go under the knife.

“Then issues of the lumbar, the spinal cord, L1, L2 which doctors insist patients must go through surgery, but we resolve such cases of spondylosis where the vertebrae and discs in the lower back, otherwise known as the lumbar spine, gradually deteriorate due to age and wear and tear, but which we resolve without any form of surgery and patients get completely healed with the pain,

stiffness and other symptoms vanishing for good.”
“So you can now see that we have been able to resolve several issues that modern medicine says it’s not possible, but which we have made possible without any complicated procedures,” he concluded.

Amodu has over the years continued to reveal the advantages of alternative medicine.

Nigeria is set to witness a football spectacle as some of the world’s greatest football legends converge for the First World Soccer Legends War Against Cancer International Charity Football Match Nigeria 2026.

The star-studded event, backed by the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT), is designed to combine football entertainment with a major campaign to raise cancer awareness, promote early detection and mobilise resources for prevention and treatment.

The initiative, themed “Play for Prevention, Score for Life,” was unveiled on Wednesday in Abuja with the official launch of the event logo, kits and a 60-day countdown to the international charity match.

The campaign is expected to feature former international football stars while bringing together cancer advocates, government institutions, corporate organisations, development partners and other stakeholders in a united effort against the disease.

Speaking on behalf of NICRAT Director-General, Prof. Usman Aliyu, Dr Margaret Sawyer said the institute was supporting the initiative because of its potential to take cancer-awareness messages to millions of Nigerians.

She said the campaign would go beyond fundraising by educating Nigerians on cancer prevention, early detection and the need to seek medical attention promptly.

According to her, football offers a unique platform for reaching diverse communities, while the influence of football legends could help deliver important health messages to a wider audience.

Earlier, National Coordinator of the Main Organising Committee (MOC), Mr Jacob Onu, said the event was conceived to transcend the boundaries of sport and evolve into a national and international movement against cancer.

Onu said the participation of former football stars would amplify messages on cancer prevention, screening, treatment, research and support for patients and survivors.

He added that the event would also celebrate life, honour those who had lost their lives to cancer and inspire survivors and people currently battling the disease.

“Together, through football, compassion and collective action, we can win the War Against Cancer,” he said.

Onu called on Nigerians across the 774 local government areas to become ambassadors of the campaign by promoting healthy lifestyles, regular medical checks and early medical intervention.

He also appealed to corporate organisations, philanthropists, international organisations, football stakeholders, media organisations and development partners to support the initiative.

The MOC coordinator commended NICRAT, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), sponsors, partners and other stakeholders for their support.

He assured that the organising committee would deliver an event capable of meeting international standards while creating a lasting legacy in cancer awareness, advocacy, humanitarian support and sports development.

In his goodwill message, President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Engr. Habu Gumel, expressed concern over the rising global cancer burden and called for sustained action beyond the charity match.

Gumel urged the organisers to extend the campaign beyond Abuja to communities across the 36 states, while calling on governments at all levels to strengthen cancer prevention, screening and treatment.

The NOC president pledged his support for the initiative and encouraged Nigerians to make regular cancer screening and periodic health checks a priority.

Also speaking, Director of Cancer Prevention and Control at NICRAT, Dr Usman Mohammed Waziri, reaffirmed the institute’s determination to ensure that the initiative produces a positive and lasting impact on Nigeria’s cancer-control efforts.

With the 60-day countdown officially underway, organisers said the World Soccer Legends Cancer Match would combine the excitement of football with humanitarian action, using the power and influence of football legends to drive a nationwide campaign against cancer.
