The fifth edition of the All Stars International Veterans Invitational Tournament kicked off in style, with Capital City Club recording a convincing 2-0 win over Capital Sportif FC.

This impressive victory marks the team’s second consecutive appearance in the tournament, having fallen by the wayside in the group stages of their debut season.

Inspired by the presence of legendary coach and ex Super Eagles’ star Samson Siasia, Capital City Club dominated the match, with Ebuka Ozochukwu scoring a goal in each half to seal the win.

Ozochukwu’s clinical finishing proved to be the difference between the two teams, as Capital City Club ran away with a comfortable 2-0 victory.

The tournament, which features veteran players from various clubs across the region, aims to promote healthy lifestyles, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among participants.

In his post match reaction, stand-in Captain of the team, Jonathan Aleghe said: Samson Siasia is a true Veteran and a household name when it comes to football in the country.

“We greatly benefited from his wealth of experience and I must say we’re very lucky and proud to have him play for us this season.”

With their winning start, Capital City Club sets its sights on the next challenge in the competition.

President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has called on Nigerian families to adopt healthy living habits through regular participation in sporting and fitness activities.

Nimrod made the call on Sunday during the third edition of the Hoba Development Association, Abuja Chapter, novelty sports event held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

He noted that physical activities such as sports are vital to fostering family bonds, community interaction, and overall well-being.

“The rate of health-related incidents such as slumping is increasing, but regular exercise helps improve the health of both parents and children,” he said. “Events like this bring families together, allowing parents and children to interact and know each other better.”

Also speaking, the stand-in Chairman of the Hoba Community, Barrister Nathan Naandeti, highlighted the significance of the annual novelty games, describing them as a unifying platform for members of the community.

“It’s something we do every year to promote unity, togetherness, and fitness among our people. Sports is part of who we are,” he stated.

Men, women, and children from the Hoba community participated in various sporting activities, including volleyball, badminton, football, and aerobics—all aimed at encouraging relaxation, fitness, and bonding among families.
