19 Years of Deceit? Bash Ali’s Unfounded Accusations Against FG, NSC and ex Minister Expossed

Exposed: Bash Ali Peddles Lies Against Former Minister, Sports Commission, and FG
Joel Ajayi
Investigations have revealed startling facts concerning the persistent allegations made by veteran boxer Bash Ali against the former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, the Legal Director of the Sports Commission, and the Federal Government of Nigeria over his proposed Guinness World Record boxing bout.
For over 19 years, Bash Ali has attempted to stage this so-called Guinness Record fight. Yet, across the tenures of four Presidents and five Sports Ministers, his proposals have repeatedly failed to gain official approval or endorsement a telling sign of the consistent doubts about the legitimacy and feasibility of the event.
Among the wild claims he continues to peddle is an allegation involving a purported $12 million deal and an accusation of a N13 million extortion scheme.
Our investigations have found no credible evidence to support these assertions. It is time Nigerians demand concrete proof from Bash Ali instead of allowing him to smear the reputations of respected public officials with baseless accusations and blackmail tactics.
Importantly, on October 27, 2021, the former Minister sued Bash Ali for defamation. Represented by Festus Keyamo Chambers, the Honourable Minister filed an interlocutory application (Motion No. M/7145/2021), seeking a court order to restrain Bash Ali from making further defamatory statements pending the resolution of the lawsuit.
The Honourable Justice C. Agbaza granted the reliefs sought, effectively barring Bash Ali from any further public defamation of the Minister. Confirming this legal position, Festus Ukpe, Esq., of Festus Keyamo Chambers, emphasized that any continued defamatory publication or statement by Bash Ali constitutes contempt of court — a criminal offense under Nigerian law.
Despite this standing court order, Bash Ali has brazenly defied the ruling.
He has held press conferences, issued defamatory statements, and granted media interviews all aimed at tarnishing the image of the former Minister.
These actions are not just contemptuous of the judiciary but are also a direct affront to the integrity of public office and legal due process.

Bayelsa: Ex-agitator calls on security agencies to investigate community leader’s murder

A Niger Delta ex-agitator, Mr Endurance Amagbein, has urged the security agencies to investigate the alleged murder of the Igbomotoru Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman, Mr Goodnews Manash, in Bayelsa.
Amagebin made the call in a statement by his Media Assistant, Mr Mightywind Dudafa, on Wednesday in Abuja.
Amagbein expressed shock over the alleged killing and called on security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He, however, enjoined the indigenes of the community to be law-abiding and assist the security forces in their investigations to unravel those behind the gruesome killing.
“The killing of innocent souls of the community by unscrupulous elements under government forces is needless.
“These same criminal elements have continued to unleash terror in the community through their agents that they have armed with dangerous weapons to do their bidding whenever they desire.”
The ex-agitator, said that they had yet to recover from the outcome of the siege mounted in Igbomotoru leading to the brazen killing of more than 50 persons in the community on March 27, 2024.
Amagbein described the slain CDC chairman as a man of peace, who was committed to the development of the Igbomotoru community.
“I am pained by the news of the death of the CDC chairman because he was vibrant and committed to the peace and progress of Igbomotoru,” he said.
He described the killing as reprehensible and needless.
