FCT FA Boss Mouktar Wins 2025 Blueprint Sports Icon Award

The Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCT FA), Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed, has been honoured as Sports Icon of the Year 2025 by Blueprint Newspaper in recognition of his outstanding contributions to youth and sports development, particularly within the FCT education sector.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the media Adviser to the FA Chairman Uche Nwudoh Hilary in Abuja revealed that, the award was presented during the Blueprint Annual Public Lecture and Impact Series held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
According to the organisers, Alhaji Mouktar was selected for his exemplary contributions and measurable impact on national development through youth empowerment and sports initiatives.
He was lauded for his steadfast commitment to human capital development, marked by numerous impactful projects and youth-oriented programmes.
Other prominent recipients at the event included the National Security Adviser, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State—each recognised for their distinct contributions to national growth and progress.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Mouktar expressed gratitude on behalf of the FCT FA family and the sports-loving people of the Federal Capital Territory. He dedicated the award to Almighty Allah and to the people of the FCT.
“This award is a testament that our efforts are being seen and appreciated,” he said. “It also serves as a reminder that we must continue with purpose and determination to do even more for youth development—not just in sports, but also in education.”
He further thanked the organisers, adding: “This recognition is both an honour and a challenge to surpass our past achievements. Our country’s growth and economic improvement lie in investing in our youth.”
The Blueprint Impact Series is an annual platform that celebrates excellence in public service and honours individuals and institutions making significant strides in shaping Nigeria’s future.

AACT 2026: 31 Days to Africa’s Big Sporting Gathering in Abuja

The countdown to the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) has officially entered the final month, with just 31 days to go before Africa’s leading women’s team golf championship tees off at the IBB International Golf & Country Club in Abuja.
In a statement signed by the AACT 2026Director of Communication Kayode Adeniyi on Friday in Abuja.
Under the theme “Africa Is Coming to Abuja,” the countdown campaign will spotlight the championship, the participating nations, the players, the host venue and the growing development of women’s golf across the continent.
The 2026 AACT, scheduled for November 2–7, will bring together women’s golfing talent from across Africa for six days of continental competition in Nigeria’s capital.
As preparations continue at the IBB International Golf & Country Club, attention is increasingly turning to Abuja, where the championship will provide a platform for African golfers to compete while also showcasing Nigeria’s hospitality and the country’s growing profile as a destination for major sporting events.
The countdown will feature daily stories, interviews, player and country profiles, tournament facts, behind-the-scenes updates and features on the host venue as the championship draws closer.
The campaign will also highlight the role of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN), the Local Organising Committee and other stakeholders in preparing for the continental championship.
With just 31 days remaining, anticipation is building across the African golfing community as Abuja prepares to welcome the continent’s leading women golfers.
Africa is coming to Abuja.
