In-Form Lawal Nets Fourth Pre-Season Goal for NK Istra
Former Flying Eagles striker continues pre-season form with NK Istra
Salim Fago Lawal, the former Flying Eagles forward, continued his impressive pre-season form for Croatian side NK Istra, netting once again in a friendly match against fellow Croatian club, Orijent, on Saturday.
Lawal found the back of the net in the 55th minute, drawing Istra level just four minutes after Orijent had taken the lead. His latest goal brings his pre-season tally to four, highlighting his sharpness in front of goal ahead of the new campaign.
The ex-Mavlon FC striker showcased his trademark physical presence and tireless work rate, constantly putting pressure on Orijent’s defence throughout the encounter.
NK Istra eventually sealed a 2-1 victory after Bangura struck the winner in the 73rd minute. Orijent’s attempts to find a late equalizer proved futile.
Interestingly, two other former Mavlon FC players — Israel Ayuma and Charles Agada — also featured in the thrilling encounter, further underlining the growing influence of Nigerian talents at NK Istra.
