Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei Joins Nigerian Tennis Board as NSC’s Sponsor/Philanthropist Nominee

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has officially nominated Rt. Hon. (Engr.) Victor Ochei to serve on the Board of the Nigeria Tennis Federation in the capacity of Sponsor/Philanthropist.
This was confirmed in a letter dated October 20th, 2025, personally signed by the Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade.
The letter affirms Ochei’s nomination to the Sponsorship/Philanthropy seat, one of the fourteen (14) distinct constituencies that make up the National Sports Federation Board.
In the letter, Hon. Olopade stated: “I am pleased to inform you that the National Sports Commission has officially nominated you to occupy the esteemed position of Sponsor/Philanthropist on the National Board of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, for the 2025–2029 term. Your nomination is a testament to your valuable contributions and unwavering commitment to the development of sports in Nigeria. Congratulations on this achievement.”
At a time when the future of Nigerian sports hinges on private sector involvement and credible leadership, Ochei’s nomination reflects a strategic move to reinvigorate sports governance with individuals who possess not only a passion for sports but also a proven track record of philanthropy, sponsorship, and developmental impact.
Before the nomination, Rt. Hon. (Engr.) Victor Ochei is widely recognized for his impactful and sustained contributions to sports development in Nigeria, particularly in table tennis.
Over the past five years (2021–2025), he has committed close to ₦200 million to the sponsorship of the annual DavNotch Open Tennis Championship, a flagship event in Nigeria’s tennis calendar.
His passion for the sport is further exemplified by his role as an Audemars Piguet Ambassador and his consistent attendance at the four annual Grand Slam tennis tournaments for over a decade.
Beyond tennis, Ochei has shown a broad commitment to grassroots sports development.
He sponsors the Onicha-Olona Unity Cup, an annual football tournament in Delta State, now in its fifth year.
The Delta State Born also constructed the Donald Ochei Mini-Stadium in his hometown, Onicha-Olona, Aniocha North LGA, Delta State—a community sports infrastructure project that has been widely praised and emulated

With the theme “Steady Strides,” this year’s race captures the measured rhythm and determined pace that define world-class long-distance running, a reflection of the steady progress and ambitious vision shaping the marathon’s evolution into a global platinum-labelled event.
In a historic milestone for Nigerian sports, the PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon has been officially awarded the prestigious World Athletics Label for its second edition, a distinction achieved in record time. This remarkable feat makes it the first marathon globally to earn the label so swiftly, underscoring both the organizational excellence of NSML and the dynamic rise of PremiumTrust Bank, currently celebrated as Nigeria’s fastest-growing commercial bank.
The 2025 edition is expected to attract elite international athletes, top local runners, and marathon enthusiasts from around the world, alongside officials from World Athletics who will oversee the competition.
