The Premium Trust bank Abuja city international half marathon has been awarded a bronze labelled status by World Athletics .

This feat is a fulfilment to the rapid growing stature of the race which is just in its second edition after a highly successful first edition in 2024.

MD/CEO, Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Yetunde Olopade said this is a reaffirmation of the company’s commitment to excellence and global standard.

She maintained that the company will continue to elevate it’s organisational structure to meet world class standards at all times.

” We will continue to deliver World class sports events and Saturday’s race will be another testament to that commitment”.

The MD also expressed gratitude to Premium Trust Bank for the role it played in making the Abuja city half marathon a truly global road race.

” To our sole sponsors and partner , Premium trust bank, this marathon stands today because of your commitment, your vision and investment in the future of Nigerian Sports.Your believe in the power of road races to inspire communities and also to engage young people and drive economic activities is the reason why we are here today”, she stated.

Meanwhile Head of the technical committee of the race, Yusuf Ali has revealed that about 30 elite athletes, from Kenya, Ethiopia and Nigeria are taking part in the race while the winner of the race will go home with 8000 US dollars.

” The Prize money ranges from 8000, 6000, 5000, 4000, 3000, 2000, 1000 and 500 US Dollars for the top eight athletes. We also have a different price money for the top Nigerians, ranging from 2 Million Naira. We also have for the first time, prize money for students ranging from the top prize of 1 million naira, which is courtesy of the MD of Premium Trust bank”, he concluded.

The race on Saturday starts at exactly 6.30 am at the start point Opposite National Federal Fire Service, Muhammed buhari way and finishes at the Velodrome inside the MKO National stadium.

AACT 2026: 31 Days to Africa’s Big Sporting Gathering in Abuja

The countdown to the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) has officially entered the final month, with just 31 days to go before Africa’s leading women’s team golf championship tees off at the IBB International Golf & Country Club in Abuja.


In a statement  signed by the AACT 2026Director of Communication   Kayode Adeniyi on Friday in Abuja.

Under the theme “Africa Is Coming to Abuja,” the countdown campaign will spotlight the championship, the participating nations, the players, the host venue and the growing development of women’s golf across the continent.


The 2026 AACT, scheduled for November 2–7, will bring together women’s golfing talent from across Africa for six days of continental competition in Nigeria’s capital.


As preparations continue at the IBB International Golf & Country Club, attention is increasingly turning to Abuja, where the championship will provide a platform for African golfers to compete while also showcasing Nigeria’s hospitality and the country’s growing profile as a destination for major sporting events.


The countdown will feature daily stories, interviews, player and country profiles, tournament facts, behind-the-scenes updates and features on the host venue as the championship draws closer.


The campaign will also highlight the role of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN), the Local Organising Committee and other stakeholders in preparing for the continental championship.


With just 31 days remaining, anticipation is building across the African golfing community as Abuja prepares to welcome the continent’s leading women golfers.


Africa is coming to Abuja.
