How We Killed Four Police Officers, Pregnant Woman – Suspects

Suspected killers of four police officers, including a pregnant woman at the Afuze Police Station in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, have revealed their strategy.
They have been paraded by the police in Benin.
The suspects, numbering six, were alleged to have killed the officers, set the station ablaze and set free their colleagues who were arrested for armed robbery in the area.
The suspects, Agunu Ernest (24), Paul Richard (24), Sunday Thank God (21), Suleiman Omogbai (22), George Sebastian (20) and Agbomikhe Agustine (22), were among 45 suspects paraded by the State Commissioner of police, Mr. Mohammed DanMallam, for alleged involvement in various crime in the state.
It was gathered that the suspects were arrested when a police officer searched through Agunu Ernest’s phone and discovered that most of the contacts were police officers.
Ernest was said to have confessed that the phone belonged to one of the officers killed at the Afuze Police Station.
Speaking with journalists, one of the suspects, Suleiman Omogbai, said Ernest who was arrested by the police invited them to come and rescue them from the cell.
He said it was Abaga who brought the explosives used in the operation, adding that they did not plan to kill the officers during the operation, but that he did not know what came over him.
“When we got to the station, Abaga who is at large started shooting and we killed the police officers so that we can escape. I killed one of the police, while Abaga locked the police inside the room and killed them.
“Abaga called me that we are going to set free Ernest and three others. Killing was not part of the plan but when we got there, Abaga killed the DPO, that was how we joined him. I didn’t intend to kill the officer but you know gun has a spirit that goes with it,” he said.
Also speaking, Omogbai, who claimed to be member of Jurist Confraternity, said after the operation, he and his group left, while Ernest, Abaga and his group went to attack the INEC office.
On his part, Ernest said he invited Abaga to come and rescue them from the cell but not to kill anyone.
“Paul with whom we were locked up in the cell together, brought Abaga’s number. We then told the IPO to call him to come and bail us. When he came, we told him to come and rescue us and after two hours, we started hearing gun shot. Not too long, they burst the door open and rescued us. We later got to know that they killed the officers,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. DanMallam, assured that the suspects would be charged to court and that no one would escape justice

FG To Seize Mortgaged Property of Defualting Retiring Public Servants

Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board will henceforth seize mortgaged properties of retiring federal public servants who failed to fully repay the housing loans advanced to them by the board.
In a statement issued by the Staff Housing Loans Board Head, Information & PRU Obiechina Ngozi on Wednesday in Abuja reveals that this is in accordance with the Public Service Rules 021002 (p) as issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
The OHCSF sent out the memo as a reminder for the federal public servants who are about to retire to adhere strictly to the provisions of the Public Service Rules.
The memo reads; “I am directed to bring to your attention the provision of Public Service Rule (PSR) 021002 (p), which mandates all public servants to obtain a Certificate of Non-indebtedness to the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board (FGSHLB) and any MDA Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society, as issued by the OHCSF, as a prerequisite for retirement.”
“Further to the above, it should be noted that in the event of exiting the service prior to full repayment of the housing loan advanced by the FGSHLB, the Board shall exercise its legal right to seize the mortgaged property.”
Speaking on the above, Salamatu Ladi Ahmed, Executive Secretary, FGSHLB, reiterated that the warning is also for retired officers who defaulted.
She stated that the management of the Board, on its part, is compiling the list of all retired federal public servants who are still owing the housing loans they obtained while in service, to be sent to relevant regulatory agencies to recover the debts from them.
FGSHLB is committed to ensuring that all public servants comply with this rule and obtain the necessary Certificate of Non-indebtedness before retirement, and urge all those affected to take immediate action and settle any outstanding debts or liabilities with the Board.
