2019 African Games: Youth Ministry Stages Anti-Doping Seminar In Abuja

As part of preparation toward 2019 African Games event in Morocco, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will hold  a 2-day seminar for all  National Sports Federations’ Presidents, Secretaries and Technical Directors.

The seminar slated for Thursday May 2nd, to Friday May 3, 2019 in Abuja 

The Seminar themed ‘Strategic Re-Positioning of Result Oriented National Sports Federations and Effective Preparation /Participation at the 2019 Games will have resource persons from the National Anti- Doping Committee NADC discuss issues concerning National Sports Federations’ compliance  with the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) standards.

It will also serve as an avenue to interact with Federation Presidents on strategic matters affecting the Federations as well as on-going preparations for the forthcoming 12th African Games in Morocco. 

Some of the topics  for discussion include ‘Overview of a Code Compliant National Anti-Doping Program’, ‘Health Consequences of Doping: Managing Risks of Nutritional Supplements’,  ‘Anti-Doping Rules Violation and Result Management Process’, ‘Athletes Registered Testing Pool and Whereabouts’, 

‘Prohibited Substances and Methods and the TUE Process’, ‘Anti-Doping Roles and Responsibilities’ and ‘Doping Control Process and Testing’ 

However, the Minister of Youth and Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung will address the meeting on the final day. 

The resource persons expected to speak at the seminar include Dr Akin Amao, Dr Paul Onyeudo, Mr Femi Ayorinde among others.

President Tinubu Decries Violence In Rivers, Directs Police To Provide Security To LGA Offices

President Bola Tinubu has called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara, political leaders and their supporters in Rivers State to exercise restraint and uphold the rule of law.

In response to recent tensions following last Saturday’s local government council election, the President expressed deep concern over reports of arson and explosions in the state.

He urged all political actors to de-escalate the situation and discourage their supporters from engaging in violence or destructive actions.

President Tinubu directed the police to restore and maintain peace, law, and order immediately.

While instructing law enforcement agencies to bring the situation under control, he emphasised the need to ensure the security of public institutions.

President Tinubu said government facilities built with public funds must be safeguarded from vandalism.

He stressed that self-help has no place in a democratic system, especially after 25 years of continuous democracy.

According to President Tinubu, the judiciary can settle all political disputes, and the outcome of this election should be no exception.
